Piroe is a 9 all day long. He's no playmaker. Georginio can pass a ball and has good vision. They should switch.
We were more or less on the halfway line, so didn't see the Bamford / goalie incident clearly. However, one thing we did see as the melee was drawing to the end, was the ref pulling out another card, which looked like a red & aimed at the goalie, presumably for dissent & not leaving the park. However, I've not read or heard a word about it since. Was this visible on the red button show? I'd love to know what was going on. He deffo pulled another card & refs don't normally pull a 'reiterate' card, do they?
I think Anthony coming off was simply keeping him fresh for Saturday. He's not completed 90 mins yet, so guessing it was a precautionary move.
Interesting what you say about Rutter, I always thought Michael Bridges was a lazy / luxury player (a bit Le Tissier) until the first time I saw him live, that lad put some yards in for the team
Georginio was on his game and some of the stuff he did was just sublime. If you get chance then watch the opportunity he made for Summerville to make it 2-0 as it was just sensational play. Picked the ball up in our half from a throw in and after a superb first touch spins away from his marker and makes a great switch of play. Then doesn't just watch but sprints into the box to receive the ball again before beating his man to get to the byline and then puts it on a plate for Crysencio who hits the defender when he should score. The boy is a proper talent.
Can’t remember where I read it but apparently he injured his ankle in the first half colliding with one of his teammates (Struijk?) tried to run it off but had to be subbed.
Another think I noticed at the match was their #30. Talk about fast! He broke down the right going towards the Kop, & was flying. Struijk was shifting faster than I thought he could, but wasn't bearing down fast enough. Fortunately, his burgeonig relationship with Rodon was there for all to see. Rodon was faster, so he shot down towards the corner flag, & Struijk changed direction to cover the penalty box. They wouldn't have had the breath to shout, nor did I see them point or anything - it just seemed to be pure instinct & knowing who was capable of doing what. That's an understanding that can take a long time to develop, so was marvellous to witness so early in their relationship. Knew Rodon was fast, but bloody hell!
