Yeah we’d have to occasionally get out of our half and have a shot to score goals. Meslier could have played the game in a dinner jacket.
All I learned was I can only seem to get the red button on the main Sky Q box so my good lady wife has been informed. Sure I could get it on the mini boxes last time?
Fortunately he already lived just down the M4. Think he’s in trouble if we lose at home to a poor Blackburn team at the weekend with Warnock now available for one last last last job.
Slightly harsh on pascal he's been one of our steadier players up to press, I'd put him @7.5 for the game him and rodon are the pairing with Charlie and coops back ups....piroe is being played out of position ATM a bit like Rodrigo was before he found his boots and found his mojo
My take on the Bamford thing is that the keeper comes out studs up at waist height or even higher, Bamford jumps out of the way and falls over. If the keeper catches him its a red, or a red for dangerous play even if he missed. Bamford told QPRs manager there was no contact. If Meslier had come out like that we'd all be saying WTF is he playing at?
He lost alot of headers against Dykes. Other than that he was decent. If I'm rating him 7 or above I want him to dominate his man. Struijk has been much improved of late though.
Yeah, it was for intent. I don't agree but thems the rules nowadays. I'm a bit disappointed he didn't just lob it in to the net though.
Seeing a lot of criticism but a clean sheet and a win will do. It’s one of those things where if Rodon scores the header in the first half we get a hat full but as the game went on they got more confidence. Over the course of the game I still feel we deserved the win and if we can look bad and still win games then that’s a good sign. I’d rather this than earlier in the season where we were looking good and drawing games we should’ve been winning. On the whole I thought both full backs had tough games but think we can let Byram off more so as we’ve seen him do well more often than not this season so looking forward to Spence coming in for Ayling. Gray and Ampadu are the best CM pairing. Feel like Summerville is a bit frustrating but can’t complain as he and Anthony both had a GC last night. Rutter looked good. Piroe anonymous but feel like he’ll get 20 goals this season through bagging every other game on average and then go missing, can’t have it all or he’d be worth more than 10 million. I think this is probably the reason why a PL team hasn’t picked him up. Bamford looked good when he came on, he actually looked quick, took players on and got the GK sent off. Very good squad addition, it’s a shame he can’t finish otherwise I think he’d be a top 10 PL player as his movement, work rate and interplay is brilliant. On the sending off I actually don’t think he intentionally got him sent off, he was trying to go round him and trying to avoid getting absolutely destroyed. In my opinion I feel like it’s a sending off as even though he didn’t touch him why is he coming out that far and not getting the ball, he misses it completely and if he didn’t put off Bamford then he has a free shot at goal as he’s in front of the defenders. Bamford even puts his hands up to say he didn’t touch him but you shouldn’t be coming out like that as a GK and last man if you aren’t getting the ball.
And the commentary was gold after the GK was sent off. Bamford should forever be known as Bamford the cheat, brilliant
he’ll have to ask Sharon for permission of course… but she’ll say yes otherwise she’d have to see more of him
Turns out Farke was talking up Cooper because he was going to drop him. Errr I mean rotate, or rest due to 3 games in a week blah blah blah. Anyway it was the right decision as Struijk and Rodon seem to be developing a really good understanding and are improving all the time. Cue Coops back in for Saturday then
I actually think you've under-scored Ampadu. He was REALLY head & shoulders above everyone. Everyone around where we were sitting was of the same opinion. One thing was very clear in this match - Piroe is not up front because Douglas Bader would press harder & faster than him. I don't know if it's him simply being unfit, or too fat or something fixable, or that's exactly what we've bought - a carthorse that can (hopefully) score lots of goals. He's a goal-hanger. Nothing else. Which is the opposite of what we usually get - fit, fast, barn-door strikers. Rutter covers some amount of ground. Possibly the best & most consistent 'presser' that I've ever seen. That's why he's up front. He's actually astonished me this season. I didn't expect much after last seasons poor displays.
Evening lads, missed the game as was in the middle of nowhere somewhere near portugal. Happy with 3 points and will take your reports as gospel on the performance.
Anthony was good as well and you're absolutely 100% right about Ampedu & Georginio. Piroe unfortunately the jury is still out, especially as Bamford came on and got in behind 3 or 4 times last night but it's great to have options up front and I've every confidence that he'll score goals for us in this division.
I agree. He was great and has been all season. I gave him an 8 purely because he lost a couple of duels and got caught in possession a couple of times. You're right though, he was head and shoulders above everyone else on the night. I just don't think anyone was on top of their game last night.
