I was amazed to find that we are still in the top 6 after this game! Goes to show what a fooked up unpredictable league this is!
That wasnt the luckiest thing. The number of times the ball pinged across our goal and missed everyone was shocking. On a different day we would have been 4-1 down.
Really poor game management on the pitch, shouldn't have eased off after going in front - it gave Ipswich a foothold and a subsequent belief that they could get something out of the game, and made it harder than it should have been for us for the rest of the match. If we'd pressed on like in the first 10 and got a second it'd have been game over early on.
And the odd time you go you don’t watch the game, only the negative bits you can find. Your opinion counts for less than those of us not there
Think you went the wrong game,Saiz should have scored 2 and Alioski another 1.so maybe 5-3 6-3 would have been right, but never lucky.
Not sure we did ease off,Ipswich parked the bus till we scored, then came out and pressed after conceding,we tried to carry on doing the same playing it out from the back, but they didn't let us.We didn't change they did IMO.
Player ratings: Who shone brightest for Leeds United in 3-2 win over Ipswich Town? please log in to view this image Our man Phil Hay was there – as usual – to rate the individual performances of Leeds’s players. But who got got top marks? And do you agree? Add your comments down the bottom ... please log in to view this image Felix Wiedwald - The passing between him and United’s defence was a bit forced and invited pressure. Should have done better with Ipswich’s second goal. 5/10 Luke Ayling - The best of the defenders. Tackled hard and ran Leeds out of trouble on a number of occasions. 7/10 Conor Shaughnessy - A midfielder’s through-ball for the opening goal but there were issues with United’s marking and without Pontus Jansson, set-pieces were more of a problem. 6/10 Liam Cooper - A day when Leeds looked like shipping a few goals and Ipswich did a decent job of turning Cooper and asking questions of him. 6/10 please log in to view this image KEY THREAT: Leeds United's Gjanni Alioski challenges Ipswich Town's Cole Skuse. Picture by Simon Hulme. Vurnon Anita - A fragile point in United’s line-up as Ipswich ran at him. It made sense to turn to Berardi, even though the visitors continued to threaten on that side. 5/10 Eunan O’Kane - A big push from him in the last 15 minutes disrupted Ipswich’s flow and kept them out. Put his hand up when commitment was needed. 8/10 Kalvin Phillips - Four goals for the season now and took this one with a very precise finish. The balance in midfield ebbed and flowed but he stuck at it. 8/10 Gjanni Alioski - Not everything worked for him but was always a threat and kept Ipswich on their toes. Won the corner from which Bialkowski flapped.7/10 please log in to view this image Leeds United's Samuel Saiz is challenged by Tristan Nydam. Picture by Simon Hulme Samuel Saiz - A nice little touch for Phillips’ finish and was busy from the start. Willing to graft as Ipswich tried to nick a point. 8/10 Pablo Hernandez - The odd glorious touch and tried to spread the game with some ambitious passing. The threat posed by Leeds never tailed off. 7/10 Pierre-Michel Lasogga - Finishing with the confidence of a striker who expects to score. Fitting nicely into Christiansen’s front four. 8/10 Substitutes: Gaetano Berardi (for Anita, 60) - Christiansen had to do something about that area of his defence. Berardi put himself about but Ipswich still found space down the right. 5/10 Stuart Dallas (for Hernandez, 76) - Came on in search of a killer goal but didn’t have much of a chance to find it. 5/10 Jay-Roy Grot (for Lasogga, 85) - Worth being on the pitch for one block on Iorfa alone. In a small way, helped to see United over the line. 5/10 Subs (not used): Andy Lonergan, Matthew Pennington, Mateusz Klich, Kemar Roofe.. Referee: Geoff Eltringham (County Durham) - A little lenient with certain fouls which might have deserved bookings but not at all bad. 6/10 Attendance: 34,002
Phil Hay@PhilHayYEP 4h4 hours ago Jansson was fit and available today. Christiansen: "He's fit but I decided to leave him out." #lufc
Simon O'Rourke@simon_orourke 4h4 hours ago 20 points from the first 9 games. Whodathunkit? We're basically 20% of the way through the ssn already. Avg points per game for #lufc: 2.22.
Was actually in the car immediately after the match for about 30 mins or so/ Was feeling a bit ill. Then popped over to Billy's to see Shaks, Jonny Los Angeles & Harj. Didn't get to the Peacock until 14:50, so missed everyone. Knew traffic would be heavy & gave myself extra time, but I guessed it wrong. Been a wee while since we sold out. Need to get used to it (I hope!)
Lies, damned lies and statistics !! - but average of 2.22 (recurring) and 46 games to play, would statistically give us 102 points at the end of the season, I'd go with that PS Like the shot of Alioski he doesn't show any aggression
