sold 3, 1 crocked, 2 came on as subs - not out of the ordinary I’d think - just 3 players different in the first team squad. that team dominated, had twice the chances and lost 2-0. That’s football
Yes. I used to say the same thing about Colin Hendry and Jamie Carragher. Everything was last ditch stuff. Throwing yourself in front of stuff. To me, it just means you were a mile out of position in the first place! You dont see the better centre halves doing that. You dont see White throwing in last ditch tackles very often.
In midfield Paul Ince made a career out of it... terrible first touch, win the 50:50, call yourself the guvner. What a w*nker he was.
No worries, it still doesn't change the facts though, but that team didn't win and perhaps, just possibly, that is where we are better this year?
Another interesting fact is that the last time we were promoted from this league, as champions, we had 39 points more than we have now.
It could be that we’re more efficient this year (defensively at least)... But individual games sometimes just comes down to luck... we had it yesterday
On your ‘that’s football’ comment - I think it’s more than that, the improved defence (addition of White plus improvement in players like Phillips and Dallas) means if it’s 0-0 after 60 minutes there’s less reason to worry we will succumb to a sucker punch than last season. It’s not just luck that often we are the ones getting the break, and the opposition are ‘unluckily’ missing out. This is a much more resilient team.
We deserved the win for sure, much the more creative team, I thought all through the game, it will fall for us eventually, the run of the green that is, and it did, we deserved it.
Seems Phillips brought his calming influence with him, Bowen put him on his arse, someone else put him on his arse, he loves them little yellows, corners leave a lot to be desired, passing not really up to scratch. With Phillips calming influence looked we were heading for a draw untill the own goal, then Alioski came on and put a belter in from a tight angle to seal the deal. Kiko had a good game with a few good saves. Yep, Phillips calming influence was there alright................somewhere. No ones mentioned his yellow, or his under par game.......no surprises really.
Only bad thing is it looks like Eddie will be going, club not even making any effort to give him any game time. This will leave us well short as we still will need quality cover for Bamford.
You shouldn't see it that his yellows get us into all sorts of problems, I thought that you'd wet your throng the fact he gets a ban and doesn't play, as you obviously think we're a better team without him.
Kiko Dallas Ayling Alioski Klich Costa Berardi All these players were applauded on here for their game last night, all the others weren't, non of the others were singled out for having an average game ,which they all did,so why should Phillips be, unless you have an agenda of course.
his passing was abysmal, his yellow card was nowhere near the ball but no doubting we are far better with him in the centre of the park
I wouldn't mind too much if Bamford picked up a niggly injury that would keep him out for maybe two weeks. Would give Eddie the game time that may see him stay for remainder of season
I think Eddie has told them he's going, club look uninterested in playing him all of a sudden. After 60 mins yesterday it was obvious we needed to change things, yet Alioski and not Eddie came on.
