Like many other, Blackburn, Ipswich, Wolves etc. Id say so. We dont have anything like a proper infrastructure to survive in the PL anyway. All the talk of the multiple millions available, its clear, most of our windfall is already accounted for and we would be like homeless paupers in the PL anytime in next few seasons.
I don't know whats more embarrassing, whether that is genuinely what you expect season upon season or the fact that it is exactly what is happening season upon season.
Without a billionaire throwing £100 million or so at the team it is what we expect, and the best hope is a slow progress of the team.
well we were 15th last season and the year before, and so far this season we are 13th,I think that's slow progress, but maybe it looks different from oz
Young bull, old bull son. On that basis it is inevitable we will win everything - just might not be here to see it all
That's not an opinion, every position higher is progress as every position below is going backwards.Going by your train of thought in 91 we finished 4th,in 92 we finished 1st.3 places higher did you think we hadn't progressed.
Hi Chesh. Well one, we haven't finished yet, so I hope you end up right. But two, maybe Josh's view, like mine, is that kicking round the lower half of the table, whatever position we end up in isn't really progress (small improvement perhaps). Changing for the top six I'd count as progress.
Well the thing is m8,people can't have it both ways.Like you say it ain't finished yet,so we will have to wait and see.But if 14th-10th isn't progress then 16th-20th isn't going backwards, and it seems to me the ones who are saying being above 15th isn't progress are the same ones saying we've gone backwards if we drop below 15th.My own view is that a [small improvement is progress]
I think they say lets talk about progress, or say we are not progressing..... As you say if lower than 15th is not going backwards a couple of places higher up the table can't be seen as progress. The words you are searching for are underachieving and stagnation.
I think if we finish below 15th then we have gone backwards and progressed a bit if we finish higher.
I agree and that's the point, we appear to be going nowhere. If I felt we could really be properly competitive in a promotion push next season, I'd say we've progressed. Sadly I don't have that confidence. I simply don't care about any position lower than sixth. I've said on a previous thread to accept this as progress is to accept mediocrity and once you do that that's all you'll get.
Next season is the one for me I expect us to at least go close to top 6 and be involved around the play-offs.If not then I think all the fans will turn on Cellino.
It's the end of March and there is a 50/50 chance you will be looking at a club going backwards Using your measure......It's as marginal as that, and therein lies the problem
