Agreed... You have to also have a bit of luck and maybe this season will make up for past ones. Rads first choice was to keep Monk, I've stated many times I wasn't impressed with Monk so when he left I was actually okay about it. I thought Thomas was a massive gamble, I thought a director of football wouldn't work but it shows what having a sensible owner in charge can do. He didn't bow to Monk wanting total say in who we signed, he decided the director of football was the route to go and stuck to it. He conducted an intense search for a new guy and saw Thomas and his detailed approach as being the right one. Cellino would have went the cheap route or the gut feeling (aka Hockaday). We were lucky Monk threw a strop, we were lucky Thomas had been sacked the same day, the rest is all down to a sensible owner who is willing to invest in quality.
Just to add... Nice to hear on his interview what Thomas told the players at half time... We're 3-0 up and he tells them to go out enjoy it and get more goals, a few coaches might have been tempted to swap an attacker for a defensive player and see the game out, glad he said carry on as you are..
A fantastic display which nevertheless is tinged with sadness We wait years and years for a display like that, putting up with countless games when we were absolutely ****e, and yet Boggers always saw the positive For him to be taken from this world just a few days before possibly our best performance for over a decade is beyond cruel Leeds United are currently doing him proud, what a team/squad/manager and set up we have Promotion is a must this season to keep all our players, and I haven't seen anything from other teams that would suggest we can be stopped from achieving that goal
Well what a result and a great team effort what has struck me so far is the improvement in players that appeared average at best under Monk yet now they look awesome I am thinking O'Kane Cooper Phillips Roofe and I believe Jannson has not been booked! This must be down to TC he has created a comarderie between the players which shows
He's not fit but can tell pace isn't his game but the way he brought others into the game and while he won everything he also made use of the ball rather than heading it to no mans land Unlucky not to have scored 4 today
Thanks bud so looking forward to ipswich game now.its the team play a huge improvement i want to see.
Jesus give the lad a break, he's 19 years of age. He would have scored if not for a last ditch tackle. Give TC time to work with him and he'll be fine.
