Exactly. And the question is not who you’d like at at club as manager but who we can realistically attract who’s a messiah. Answers on a matchbox
It might come across as I'm a Farke fan but the reality is that our build up is too slow and ponderous. He leaves it too late to change things when it's not working. However, you asked a question on why our full backs weren't effective and here are my thoughts today. Bogle. Do you think Farke has told him not to close the man with the ball down? Look at their goal. He just let's him run 60 yards unchallenged and score the goal. You ALWAYS defend the man with the ball when you are up against multiple attackers. Make him make a decision and it gives him the chance to make the wrong decision. That's not Farkes fault unless he is the one coach on the planet that tells his players to not bother trying to stop the man with the ball. Bogle had ample opportunities to put the ball in the box or take his man on. He did neither and was happy to turn away and play it back to Ampadu or Gruev. This could be a confidence thing or an ability issue. Looking at the crosses that Firpo shoves in then I doubt Farke tells his full backs to not bother crossing the ball but turn out and keep possession. History suggests that he likes his full backs to be the 'wingers' in attack. I don't have the stats but it seemed that Bogle had a poor day with his passing today. Too many of his 'one-twos' went to Burnley players and his standard passes lacked pace allowing Burnley to pinch the ball and launch attacks. If he had a better day at the office then we probably had another 3 or 4 really dangerous attacks instead of relying on Rodon to cover his arse. Those little mistakes often alter the tide of the game and it seemed the only foothold Burnley had was simple, unforced errors by our players. Now, I doubt FARKE told him to take a bit off his passes or to give the ball away cheaply just to test Rodon. I think it was Bogle having a **** game. It happens. Bogle crossing was hitting the first man too often. Firpo. I thought Firpo had a decent game but just wasn't as effective as we have seen previously. Some of that was Solomon using Firpos overlap as a decoy to come inside. However, that made us too narrow. I don't think Farke has told Solomon to not pass to Firpo, I think that's a Solomon issue. Firpo was also hesitant to 'get at his man' and was happy to turn back and give the ball to Solomon for him to do it. Again, I don't know what was said but it would be highly unlikely for ANY coach to tell his players out wide to not accept a 1v1 against a full back. When Firpo did try and cross the ball, he hit the first man and he's usually better than that so he's had an off day. I don't think Farke instructs them to try and hit the full back and try and get corner kicks. For the umpteenth time, I'm no Farke fan. I wanted Corberan. I was 100% all in on Corberan. He suits our squad perfectly. I stick up for Farke because not EVERYTHING is his fault. He didn't miss two one on one chances today, Joseph and Gnonto did. He didn't get the penalty call wrong, the ref did. He didn't take an unnecessary risk and slip giving a goal scoring chance away, Solomon did. He didn't stray offside, his forward players did. The criticism of Farke today and has been for a while is his substitutions and his changes of formation. They aren't just ineffective, they actually have a negative effect in games like today. It looked very messy in the last 10 minutes with Gruev playing sweeper, Struijk playing left wing back, Byram at right centre back. Rothwell went to 10, Piroe at inside right. It was a ****show and allowed Burnley out of their half for the first time all game. No structure.
Corberan would be perfect for this squad. It's not like we have a lack of funds to buy him out if we had to.
Michael Carrick Carlos Corberán Graham Potter Willy Caballero Philippe Clement Rene Hake You want names there you go. Please don’t say we couldn’t get any of them unless you know they’ve been approached and said no
Going through the last few pages there's a lot to digest..... 1) Yes Farke has had 2 teams sold from under his feet but then you need to remember the board/him have brought in enough players to replace them. All we heard from the fan base is that the fringe players have gone. 2) You can't sell 4 of your best players and expect to move forward especially if you bring in players who are not up to their standard. Gray is a future England international etc etc. I hear crap like we're more balanced but are we actually better with Tanaka, Solomon and Rothwell. 3) This is the hardest league to get out by promotion, We've seen many a team come down and get swallowed up in the whirlwind of this league. 4) Farke despite having pedigree probably won't get us back up at this moment. Personally I think we need a change. The question is asked who do we get and nobody can decide. My suggestion would be Moyes but then I'd have a load of daggers at my throat. 5) Yes Bielsa would work miracles with this squad but he's got fired. The biggest mistake in out recent history wasn't getting rid of Bielsa it was appointing Gracia. 6) I said at the end of last season i heard the echoes of 05/06 if we keep failing to score then when we get to sides that will be battling for 3 to 6 we're not gonna do that well. Then we will lose confidence. 7) The window was a ****ing bust. We filled positions that was vital but why the **** did we not get a CB or a CAM when it was obvious we needed both.
To be fair Corberan turned us down and signed a new contract with West Brom. Potter clearly said he would not drop down to the Championship.
Now that covers just about everything, including a name you’d want to replace Farke, the only weakness in this is the question was also who was available to replace Farke. Corberan doesn’t want the job, he’s made that pretty clear.
And Carrick ex scum would be welcomed with open arms. Is Clement at Rangers? Know nothing of the last name.
Solomon slips... defence wide open....Bogle treading treacle till a last feeble intervention...then the usual meslier down on one knee statuesque pose...look at the other custodian between the sticks, for me he's mediocre at best
You and Eire obviously feel we’re the worse team in the Championship and nobody would want to coach us (if the job was available) as the players are all crap. We’d better hope Farke doesn’t leave then as we will not have a coach all season We have back room staff and agents paid to find out who would be interested, during the close season, they should have been instructed to find a willing replacement. Luke Ayling got another assist today, strange Farke thought he was past it and Carrick is getting the best out of him. Like Piroe the leagues best striker for consecutive seasons then Farke gets hold of him and his useless
You asked for names and I knew you’d pick fault at any that were mentioned, better stick with Farke as nobody else would touch us then.
This famous 15 or 20 man scouting squad with bundles of files on players all over Europe. It’s their only job to sign quality players. Go do it
We'll be fine. Burnley were 2nd best today. Unfortunately that's football. They scored 1 and we didn't convert any of our chances. Their keeper played well too.
I didn’t at any point say we are the worst team in the championship, not sure where you got that from. I did however say that the loss today was down to Joseph and Gnonto missing sitters and an unfortunate slip from Solomon, how that is the fault of Farke I’ve no idea. I also asked for credible replacements, not just names thrown out there. Lastly, we don’t know if anyone else was or wasn’t sounded out, if they were then they clearly didn’t want the job.
I didn’t, I asked for credible replacements. I’ve answered why I think the names you’ve suggested aren’t even starters. Might as well have said Pep.
But you’re asking me to pick a replacement coach because I believe Farke is under performing. If I say Meslier is poor, or we need to sign a better striker or AM you don’t ask for a name, you accept better is out there so those who get paid to sign them, go and get it done. You didn’t say we’re the worst team, but you question if a better coach is out there, if we have one of the best teams in the division we’ll attract a good coach
You want a credible replacement for Farke??? David ****ING Moyes but I'm sure let's face it the same old stupid arguments will get trotted out,
