I don't think he'll mind being compared to Berbatov.

I really think Jansson gives this whole defence confidence, he's simply too good for this level. I have to say I was wrong about Cooper as well

This may be a biased comparison, as I'm a Cooper fan & always have been. However .....

I reckon Cooper either outplays or closely matches Jansson in every department, apart from one. Jansson has an almost supernatural ability to get his head to the ball for every set piece we face. I've never seen anything like it, and I think it's this astounding ability that colours people's assessment of his capabilities. Also worth pointing out that he hasn't got a yellow yet, after 6 starts! 15 in 36 last season.

Great reports from WJ, Jammy & Marcos. Thanks and obvious that side before self actually is like having a couple of extra players. Agree abot Jota but the Chelsea kid Bogar was brill too and reminded me of the real Boggars

Coopers playing well for sure, but he's no Jannson, was the same last season, for some reason, everyone wanted to give Bartley the credit,we saw at the end of last season when Jannson was suspended and against Bolton the rest play worse.Jannsons the glue that holds the rest together, maybe him being there gives them the confidence to play better, but without him we are a much worse defence for sure.

WJs point about Pontus yellows demonstrates just how good Tommy's management style is. He has obviously told him we are better with him on the pitch, so his job is not to get bans.

I said in another thread that we really dont know how good our defense is yet as we have had the bulk of possession, so have the ball outside danger areas more .... We ll think we can say we are better than last season in defence.

Things I'm not missing: Monk, Bartley & Wood :emoticon-0148-yes:

For me, its Jansson's comfort at which he does everything. Every tackle he wins its like he didn't even try, every header is won easily, everything is so natural for him. Not saying his CB partner hasn't outplayed him at times since he's been here. He just clearly looks too good for this level even when he aint ontop of his game, such a calming influence (weird saying that as he gets more yellows than the rest of the team combined). He's absolute class even with the ball at his feet. He should be playing at least mid-table prem level I think.

I also think Cooper's improvement this season, while its clear he's worked on his game it could have something to do with playing alongside Jansson. He never really did last season as he was normally covering for his suspensions. I also don't think its a coincidence that Bartley was phenomenal last season playing alongside Jansson when he hasn't really been that fantastic anywhere else he's played so far.

Comparing him with Berbatov wasn't a criticism, he just has a class about him. He struggled a bit with the pace last night (two games in four days and not fully match fit so no surprise) but you still think something will happen every time the ball comes near to him.

I think a lot of the negativity about Cooper stemmed from him trying to establish himself at Leeds alongside erratic Bamba and calamity Bellusci. I thought he looked excellent in the Sky games against Forest and Sunderland but wanted to wait for the live games before really commenting. We could well have lost without him last night.

That sounds like a plan Marcos.

Has to be post match for me as I usually don't get there until 10 mins before kick off.

If you fancy a pint in the Peacock after then that would do nicely.

Genuine question, Jansson better than Sodje in the air? I was thinking about this the other day.

In my humble opinion we made Birmingham look better than they were.
Our midfield passing left a bit to be desired at times which allowed Birmingham to take advantage.
Thankfully our defence was solid again.

We have to remember that Brum are a decent side with some very good players and a top top manager. Arry knew what he was doing last night and was able to counter what we were trying to do, especially in the 2nd half. We can now expect every team to look at what Arry did & try and replicate it. Soon be finding out just how clever Tommy is

Brum a top 10 team at worst, maybe top 6 when they get what Aryy's doing
