Here is a eye opener Preston have lost fewer games than Coventry-Boro-Blackburn that wets the appetite for Saturday.
They won't lie down and surrender, knowing if results go against them they could be relegated if they lose to us
Those players did not give everything. For large periods of the game Leeds kept the ball easily because the pressing had ceased to press City's normally reliable patterns of play did not efficiently keep the ball, and Leeds aggressively picked possession off when Bristol City did briefly have it. The game was screaming out for a player from CM to drop in from midfield with some zest, intensity to alter the predictability. Leeds feasted off turning the ball over because they were expecting the patterns being displayed, they knew the triggers and turned the ball over all night. City's counter attack, couldn't counter attack. Leeds counter did. Yes, in and out of possession they were better. Under 15's? No, lacking belief yes. Lacking in solutions? Very much so.
I said to the Mrs yesterday how many times the ‘stray’ ball from a deflection or clearance found a white shirt. Once or twice could be put down to a fluke - or luck, but almost every time it happened. Leeds hoovered up the scraps with ease. That’s because they proactively read the game perfectly, whereas we were almost entirely reactive. The Leeds players were thinking 2 or 3 moves ahead - like a game of chess, whereas we were simply trying to cope with what came at us, without a clue about what to do next.
Leeds were balls to the wall going for the title. City had their balls out but not to the wall. Big team talk ahead for Liam Manning lads lads get your balls out and to the wall faster than Preston dont be second with your balls!!!
So the biggest bed wetter on here, agrees with a post saying to calm down? Well done numpty bollocks at least you made me smile today
I’m away as well, was out walking in Eire, Donegal to be precise, the scenery was picturesque, the weather was perfect. I’ll be back tomorrow afternoon in time for Saturday at the gate. Our small squad is catching up on us imo, had we spent a bit more wisely in the summer…… well who knows. Of course we aren’t ready for the PL, we never will be until we get there, then we’ll have to spend wisely, be the whipping boys for a season, take the money and hope to get a parachute payment bounce.
Let’s be honest we all expected a whooping at Elland Rd, and we got it. We’ve also proved at home, with the crowd behind us, against teams of similar quality to us who don’t just sit in, we can be a pretty good team, and are hard to beat. Preston need to get something out of the game as well, I’d be more worried if they didn’t, but they do, so it’s in our hands. This is exactly what we wanted at the beginning of the season, so let’s enjoy it and get behind the lads COYR
If we win Saturday, Preston would still need both Luton and Hull to win their games for them to be sent down. Luton have WBA away and Hull have Pompey away.
Mate lets be honest none of us expected a playoff spot with this squad none of us. Our striking department is toothless.
Yes. None of us expected to be 5th for the last game of the season. We ALL expected a defeat last night. No surprise there. IF we stay in the playoffs this weekend THEN it gets serious. Our home form could take us to Wembley. Of course if we miss out I’ll be disappointed, but it’s been one hell of a ride so far.
Because we were overrun by their ability, strength, running power, game understanding etc etc. There were times in the game when they had over 80plus% and totally understandable that when we had the ball it was like a potato. It happens......to better teams than us. Their quality stood out all over the pitch, none more so than Tanner in comparison with Bogle.....bigger,stronger, faster and if that's not enough add Bogles undoubted quality. And when Ramazani came on we'd also brought on Mehmeti ffs......and again sorry I laughed when Solomon left McCrorie for dead from a standing start. I fully understand your point/theory about the midfield but playing such far superior opponents does something between your ears when you're actually out their in that cauldron. I may well be wrong in all this, it won't be the last either, but I genuinely felt sorry for City last night.
Boro having the best chance ? Really ? With Boro going to Coventry and us at home to PNE, Millwall away at Burnley and Blackburn away to Sheffield United, I'd say we and Coventry have the best chance personally At least I hope so
They have a better GD. I’d take points and positions over GD any day. I bet if you ask any Cov, Boro, Millwall or Blackburn fan which position and final fixture they would choose out of those available, they’d choose ours.
