Wouldn't know what to do with himself - would have to take up real fishing or something to fill his days up
Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP 24m24 minutes ago Bridcutt latest - he and Sunderland have agreed a settlement of his contract. Leeds now need to agree terms of a deal with him. If Leeds and Bridcutt can agree terms, move will happen. Lot of talks in the past 24 hours.
Well never make progress under Cellino. Squads way worse than last season and Monk will be gone after the Birmingham game. Any owner with a clue would have given Cook, Byram and Taylor 50 k a week contracts each to keep them and their agents mildly satisfied. Thought Id have a go on the dark side **** me, its an awful spot. How glory can spend his entire life in there beats me
Let's assume Bridcutt joins us and is available, what would the midfield look like and what formation would we play when everyone is available? Me, I'd go 442 with a DM (Bridcutt?), Mowatt, Hernandez, and Roofe. I'd also be tempted to have Antonnson & Sackho up front
Charlton are the best fans in London. Their looney owner is nearly as bad as ours. 55% of season ticket holders didn't renew, and now Charlton are offering 4 free tickets to every house in the borough for games and still no one is watching. Only plus point Katrien Meire their CEO has a cracking pair of threpennies. Not sure what CAFC have issues with but if Cellino thinks his press is inflammatory, untrue or untrue he is going to have to prove it. Sadly the gun running, tax evading, coke snorting, football club ruining crook might have a problem doing that. I am prepared to risk his wrath.
Monk will continue with 4-2-3-1 If we go 4-4-2 I believe it would be Sacko, Hernandez, Bridcutt, Dallas with Antonnson and Wood up front. The temptation would be to push Roofe out wide which I would be against. Since day one, Monk has been supplied with players to slot into 4-2-3-1 I hope we make it work.
I know there are lots of people on this forum saying we need to go 4-4-2 but we just don't have the central midfielders at the club that are even capable of playing that. You need two proper box to box midfielders to play that system. There doesn't seem to be many good ones around these days and certainly not a champ level. 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 does work as a formation with the right personnel. There's a reason all the top clubs in the world use. Monk has clearly signed players with that formation in mind. He is the first manager we have had in a long time that seems like he has an actual plan of attack in the transfer window. He is signing players for each position and making sure there is adequate competition in each position as well. We can all argue about whether the quality of players is high enough but I've very much enjoyed his approach in the transfer window. Only thing that I have problems with is we should've signed a strong central defender by now but perhaps he didn't have long enough to figure out Bamba was a donkey and he hasn't even really seen a fully fit Cooper yet. Don't get me wrong I don't think we'll do well this season, certainly not too 6 like some have suggested but barring any serious meltdowns I would like to see monk have the full season purely in preparation for the next regardless of where we finish (except for if we go down obviously). Sacking managers doesn't work, we have to have trust in who we appoint and I think monk could be someone that works, only way we'll know though is if he is given absolute minimum of 2 full seasons in charge.
So glad Cellino didn't buy West Ham they would be in the Champions League for sure - their loss is our gain, we are lucky to have him and I can't believe everyone can't see it. Touching distance of promotion in the two years he has been here thanks to the influx of top quality international superstars he has invested heavily in. More scruples than the fly tipper so binned him (did you see what I did there?), and as for Cook, Byram and Taylor - Alan Hansen says you win nothing with kids so that is good enough for me. Smart enough not to get duped into buying our old wreck of a stadium or that crap at Thorp Arch and has now only gone and stolen Garry Monk from under the nose of Man City leaving them with some foreigner who has never even managed in the premier League (you can't make it up). Finally, he is drop dead shrewd, I mean why pay taxes if you don't have to? I am sure he only has his bins emptied once a week like everyone else so certainly wouldn't get his money's worth if he paid loads! The man deserves a gong really. Oh yes, I see what you mean .....
