When did Joffy go from being the next big thing to being considered a failure? At what point did people decide that or is this just around him needing some game time elsewhere? I've always thought he was OK, but wasn't going to set the world on fire.
Nail on head brizzie. We’ve always bigged up the youngsters going back many years. It’s unfair on them as it creates ridiculously high expectations in my opinion
When Paddy played for the 23's he looked clinical enough to me. He's never been the best finisher, far from it, but he gets himself in to goalscoring positions (as does Gelhardt) so the goals will eventually come. The other players may not have the same instinct to get in those goalscoring positions in order to miss them. We all knew we needed a striker and a left back but we are where we are. Bamford has to play up top.
When he didn't score against Everton. That was enough for the majority of the forum to deem him a failure. That same majority want to give Firpo ,who was **** for a full season, another vote of confidence.
If anyone is thinking, never mind saying, that Joffy is a failure then they are idiots. The lad is finding his feet as a PL footballer and is doing perfectly fine. Talk of a loan away is totally premature and it's obvious what the club think of him otherwise they wouldn't have given a 5 year contract extension. A little patience is required that's all. Firpo is now a major concern due to his fitness issues and clearly we need him to play to confirm or otherwise if he's good enough. Hopefully you notice the consistency of giving all our players a chance and not writing them off to soon. Young players need time and new signings sometimes need a bedding in period as well.
Not writing joffy off but he is not quick enough for prem football. Junior asprin on the other hand is absolute garbage and liable to be booked every game due to his lack of ability.
Yes i agree Bamford is the best we have. Does not say much for orta though and his failure to sign a real striker.
Firpo has played 25 games for us and been booked 11 times. For a defender that's a little high but nowhere near a yellow very game...stick to the facts please
Liable as in ‘looks likely to’ because he’s all over the place, gets caught out a lot, and lunges in (Firpo, not Wakey)
Firpo seems to get very little leeway from referees in my opinion. Importantly though when he does pick up a yellow it seems he's capable of not getting sent off.
