The last 20 we were very sloppy.
Stand out player so far Rodrigo, hes everywhere linking up play showing some class touches.

champions performance going forward but some sloppy defending allowed Burnley in half a dozen times but only managed to score twice, thanks to Kiko and Drameh.

Rodrigo, Berardi and Davies replaced at half time with Shackelton, Summerville and McKinstry and Greenwood moved into the No9 role. Huggins scored a good goal on the back stick Greenwood scored 2 penalties one he won and one Summerville won. Massive argument between Summerville and Greenwood as to who was taking it, Summerville even got booked for petulance, Greenwood took both pens and is now our top scorer on 13 goals with Gelhardt on 12 but he hasnt played the last two games. Summerville besides his histrionics was awesome and scored a wonderful goal himself all down to pace and skill. This kid has end product pace to burn and classy skills and is ahead if Poveda for me.

To summarise this season you have to say Jacko in his first season as U23 coach has done superb. He has followed the script given to him by Bielsa and his players have been rotated around different positions and indeed been rested to give other players a game or two.

4 players brought in last Summer have been the major difference, and in faurness all 4 cannot be far away from Bielsa’s thoughts. Greenwood and Gelhardt scored 25 between them plus many assists. Both played in at least two positions. Summerville has been fantastic with pace and skill and goals too, including a hat trick. He let himself down yesterday in the tantrum stakes but hes young and will learn. Cody Drameh has been inspiring and the 2nd best right back in the club. Hes also played as a CB and at LB and actually as a DM in a great season.

So besides these 4 who has stood out this season, well Caprile in goal has been dominant and loud and a great shot stopper. Huggins can be devastating anywhere on the left from LB, AM, LW. Cresswell has had a great season as skipper and CB, Nohan Kenneh as a CB, DM is going to be some baller. Jenkins as a DM. These few are not far behind the first 4 but we will soon see what plans the club have for the U23s. Some will go out on loan, some may move up to first team squad but used by the 23s and a couple may be released.

 

I wonder if any will make the step up or we’ll see some surprises in allowing a few to leave

 

Story around TA is that some of this seasons 23s are going out on loan, also some new faces being brought into the 18s and 23s. 18yo Josh Doig from Hibs has just won the leagues young player if the year award, and looks like joining Leeds but Liverpool Newcastle and more Prem clubs chasing him. He will cost £1.2m so on a par with Greenwood and Gelhardt fee last year

 

Looking like Rafa Mujica will be signing a long term contract with Las Palmas next month, so another one out
