Have to disagree about Cook, he was very quiet for most of game, had to change sides with Byram just to get a touch, yet Redders put him in as our so called playmaker; he had a couple of 15 second moments in second half but he was all at sea for most of game. Redders will always say Cook had a good game. If Cook was tiring rapidly it shows A, he's no good as a playmaker and B, makes you wonder about his fitness, especially as Redders stated only recently that Adryan is not 100% and needs to do more in training. I for one don't believe anything Redders says anymore, his post match comments are all over place and he is forever talking up his academy kids, Cook is Redders little golden boy; even though Redders says he has no favourites.
I certainly wasn't impressed by Cook. He's most certainly not a left midfielder, and it showed. Redders said he wanted him to build a relationship with Taylor on the left. I'm not sure what kind of a relationship he was looking for, but they did a good impression of a couple looking for a divorce, sadly. He also had quite a few discipline slips. Someone mentioned him switching wings with Byram. He certainly did, but seemed to forget to mention it to Byram at times, as they were both on the same wing, exposing Taylor (which is particularly dangerous, as the lad is just starting a run in the first team, so should never have his confidence put to the test in this way). If it was width that Redders was looking for, he had Montenegro or Adryan available to him, but one was nailed to the bench, and the other never even made the bench. Enough about Cook. I was pleased with the defence, tbh. Not brilliant, but withstood the test, and with a completely new back 4 combination too. Midfield did offer cover for the defence, which was heartening. I wasn't so happy with midfield going forward. We somehow carved out chances, but I'm buggered if I know how we managed it. I think I've also noticed a flaw in Murphy's game that I couldn't put the finger on before. I've now realised that he seems to hit the ball too far in front of himself, and ends up chasing & stretching, often losing the ball as a result. He did pay bettertoday, but really needs to brush up on his technique. Attack? Morison did get his head to a lot of crosses, but what came of it? A lot of people seemed to be happy with this, but why? No end result. Is it because we've been so used to Doukara missing everything that we see Morison as being a great improvement? Probably. I can only imagine what Smith would have done with that sort of service. Antenucci disappointed again, but we did see him put himself about a bit more than he has done before. Sharp? Least said the better. I'd much raher use one of the development squad than him. Still enjoyed the match, right enough. With a decent ref, we should have has 2 niled on penalties towards the end, and I'm still not convinced that theirs was a penalty.
Cook does the same to Byram when Byram was RB. Byram would go down line and cross the ball then have to run all way back to defend with no help from Cook. I appreciate he's 17 and learning, but we're not in the position at moment to teach kids. Redders drops, and subs players like Bianchi and Adryan, both who are a better impact for team but then moves Cook around to different positions, completely bamboozling that is. Cook had another bad game. Agree about Morison, he's got to put'em away and he doesn't, he's like Sharp, just can't find back of net; maybe they would if we moved goals to suit Austins shots. I can understand Antenucci getting upset, he's frustrated, he's not getting the through ball service he did when Redders first took over, Redders has changed everything around. I think now he's doing a BM and hoping. Austin back to his normal self, went invisible, Murphy had a better game, not brilliant but was in right place at right time; will be interesting to see how he performs on Tuesday as I reckon Redders will probably try to stick with an unchanged team knowing him. Wasn't a brilliant game, but we become more lively in second half when we were chasing an equaliser, as we do most of time.
Is Redders a druggy? http://www.insidefutbol.com/2015/01...ds-united-boss-neil-redfearn-explains/183779/
That's what I thought when I read it. People around me in the stadium thought Cook was a wee lost soul, and even the Radio Leeds commentary team thought he'd had a bad game.
Cook is at his best at the tip of a diamond ... as a central playmaker he did a lot of damage in the U18/U21 teams ... his is NOT a holding midfielder and DEFINITELY NOT a wide player ... Redders needs to wean himself off this pig headedness and give a Montenegro a run, and if not starting Adryan have him on the bench ... oh, and replace Austin with Bianchi in the holding role, at least Bianchi can pick a pass ... key thing is the lads must keep fighting for 90 minutes Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
TBH not sure if Redders feels secure or thinks he's getting sacked and is going for it. Maybe he is one MC actually trusts?? Redfearn states we need championship experienced players. He drops most of Salerno's new boys, including Adryan who according to Ema Italianiename, they spent ages trying to get. So we get Murphy / Austin / Morison / Sharp / Wootton, two of them meant to be sold so that suggests Redders is making a point about championship experience since doesn't control who comes in or goes out. Also suggests MC doesn't pick the team (picking the coach is another matter for him to worry about). On the team, we have for years lacked pace, means we can't at tech quickly without long ball. On a positive, we won't go down, Blackpool and the wallies have two sorted and Rotherham are being right neighbourly. Anyway back on the beer now. We'll have won
Sorry WJ, only saw this today. Was in the East stand, spent most of half time queueing for a hotdog for the lad !!
Let me know next time you're up. I'm in the East Stand too, right on the halfway line. Usually spend half time staring at the inane, silent adverts on the tv, desperately waiting on the scores flashing up. Would be good to put the world to rights instead of staring at a ****ty telly. Quite happy to queue if you're lad's with you. Can still talk in a queue!
Good try, Glory, but not everyone likes a 'little meet up' in the toilets. Perhaps you might have more success if you invite George Michael ...
