His comments on our young defence were particularly interesting: "• Max Aarons Top drawer goalline clearance at a crucial moment. Not far from a first half goal either. 8 • Christoph Zimmermann Let Roberts escape for a decent first half chance and failed to halt Roofe on the slaloming run that led to the Tim Krul stop. But overall a solid barrier. 8 • Ben Godfrey Mature display. You can see the confidence now when he is in possession and his greater willingness to step into midfield. 8 Jamal Lewis Fine attacking instincts throughout. First half burst set up Emi Buendia. Repeated the trick with a deflected cut back that was nudged home by Mario Vrancic for the third goal. 8" These four young players have become first choices because of their ability to defend but also their natural ability to work the ball out of defence, thus extending our midfield once the ball is won. This is at the heart of our success this season as are the defensive abilities of Buendia, Hernandez, Stiepermann and even Pukki once the ball is lost, similarly extending the midfield as the defenders revert to their defensive roles. This is at the heart of Farkeball and it's bloody effective.
Interesting view from a Yorkshire journo: "Krul’s parry kept out Kemar Roofe’s shot immediately after Pukki’s goal but Leeds did not come again in the second half. It was indicative of the dilemma in front of Bielsa at half-time that substituting Pablo Hernandez was part of his response but Norwich seized the moment and set about making Bielsa’s team look unusually ordinary. Their transitional play took hold in both directions as Leeds’ lack of care on the ball planted them in quicksand during the worst half of football Bielsa has been subjected to. Vrancic put the game beyond reach 12 minutes from the end by volleying through Casilla with no-one close to him." The whole article is worth a read as Leeds contemplate having lost 4 of their last 6 games: www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-1-norwich-city-3-phil-hay-s-verdict-canaries-quality-shines-as-whites-cutting-edge-is-lacking-at-elland-road-1-9572920
Adam Savoury or Moose? Isn't Adam taking the mick out of when Moose said those things about Farke? If you meant Moose, i completely agree! He is a joke.
Great article from DDF - Farke’s fury, the Norfolk Pirlo and record breakers – six things learned from City’s vital victory at Leeds. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...rwich-city-s-vital-victory-at-leeds-1-5877728
I'll pop this here. Clarification from Webber for any Leeds fans wetting themselves over "that letter" to EFL about Spygate.
Thanks for that HM. I've just posted it on the 'Spygate' thread on the Leeds forum - which incidentally has over 300 posts!!
That's exactly what the two Leeds fans to respond have said. Does that mean it's all friendship and hugs in the top two again?
From today’s MFW - http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...tchy-reactions-and-our-own-pantomime-villain/
6 things we learned. 1) amount of possession is totally irrelevant... https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city...&utm_source=eshot&utm_campaign=newsletterlink
Well not totally irrelevant, but less important when we're playing devastating counter attacking football away from home and then managing the lead created by it through the second half.
It was one of the ironies of last season, when we had less of the ball we tended to do better. that is no longer the case of course, we actually move it fast enough to carry a threat. Bah!
