Just as a matter of interest, although B365 paid out straight away on Paterson and Morro, they've posted my scorer bet on Bamba as "lost"......eh?? Just challenged B365 about it. Apart from multiscorers, the scorer bets they offer are "first scorer", "last scorer", or "to score anytime" - nothing about for which team they score. Now we know Bamba scored a corker - OK, it was at the wrong end but his name is till on the scoresheet as a scorer during the game. I reckon this one could get dirty if I don't get the right decision.........
Bugger - just got the ruling from B365 and they quote buried deep in their rules if you bother to dig.............. "Player to Score at Any Time" All players who take part in a match will be considered 'runners'. Any selections taken from a match that is not completed will be treated as a 'non-runner'. Please note that own goals do not count in the settlement of bets. Well it was worth a try anyway. The one consolation on the day was a total £40 invested on scorers - £160 returned. I can live with that....
I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool proper betting man in that sense remote - I just like pitting my wits against the bookies. I'll never go for any short odds offers and that's the reason I didn't go for a result at Leeds. From memory, City were only 13/10 to win it and the return wasn't worth the risk. The way I look at betting on a result (unless you go for a double chance of course) is that it's always a 1 in 3 chance of coming off. If you went for a City win for instance, there are always two other possible results and to me that's chancey. The best hope for a return is go for an either/or type of bet - that's a player scoring at decent odds based on your knowledge of the team - they either do or don't so a 1 in 2 chance instead of 1 in 3 as on the result. The other type I like is goals scored over/under for any games not just City. Again it's a 50/50 shot - there are only two possibilities - you either win or lose. I rarely bet pre match on that one, preferring to watch games tick down live and you'd be surprised how many goals are scored in the last 10 minutes or so. You can get really good odds as games approach the death - it's a question of holding your nerve to hit the button like an internet auction..... Enough of this!! - I'll be blamed by gambleaware for inciting the masses.......
