If you look at loans in Italian football,there is nearly always a fee involved even if its only to pay off his contract.Don't think for 1 minute myself he was free.

When Bates used club money received from player sales like Delph and Snodgrass to fund off the field projects like the East Stand development there was uproar, and if the money you received for McCormack is used to buy the ground, I am struggling to see how this is any different. Any reasons why you think its good for Cellino to do it, but wrong when Bates did it?
LUFC did not own the ground. Paid a fortune to rent it. All money going to the owner (whoever that was ??!!). Bates then used LUFC money, to do up a ground it didn't own, potentially allowing "the owner" to up the price when selling it later. Or perhaps I'm just being cynical. Cellino is now buying the ground back for the club so the club once again owns it's own grond, much like the majority of football clubs up and down the country. The difference seems quite obvious to me.....
The other thing to consider is that once the ground is purchased, we no longer have to pay the £1.4m pa rent. That's a nice chunk of money (at our level) for the player budget.
Plus if Cellino decides to hire it out for any major events we can receive the extra income and if Cellino ever wishes to sell us on we are a much more attractive purchase. If after buying it we hit a tricky patch and need some money invested in the squad I have no doubt Cellino will get his wallet out and buy us a player or two. If Bates had done this and we hit a tricky patch then we would have to struggle on. I an ideal world we would have the ground purchased as promised and £11 million to spend on new players. I don't have a major problem with Cellino ensuring we are operating within our means and budget, he was his own worst enemy telling us he was going to buy the ground and didn't need to sell players. Finally Bates would have sold Ross for £3-4m max so we are a good chunk ahead on where we should have been on him.
