Why did the Leeds fans have their backs to the match right at the start... Does anyone know?

This thread is quiet because I wasn't here, clogging it up with unnecessary updates ;)

Absolutely smashing to see us win with a late goal, after the late goals we've conceded this season. Sounds like we deserved it as well.

This is likely to be the one good thing Jonathan Obika does in a Charlton shirt. Thanks!

    Two more things

If Chris Solly had scored either of his two chances, I think there would have been pandemonium, even more so than for Obika's goal.

I never fully bought into the stories that Powell had x number of games to keep his job and Jiminez was ready to sack him any minute. However, if there ever was any truth in that story, just a look at him after the match and the fans singing his name. He's the best thing to happen to this club since Curbs left, make no mistake. It would have to be a very very good manager to replace him, and if the money for such a manager is available, better giving it to Powell to show what he can do. If/when Leicester miss out on playoffs and sack Pearson, I expect them to make an approach.

Just got in from the match (went to Greenwich on the way back with non football fans), I was all set to bemoan our luck at a draw from a match we dominated. Going to moan about how we sit too deep when defending a lead, why was Fuller in effect on his own running after Kermits flick ons. Why does CP persist with Pritchard on the right, his crosses just are not up to the job. In the middle is his position, no doubt. But all this is forgotten when in the 95th minute we get our just reward. Well done guys, especially Hughes who had another great game. Play offs anyone ?

I'll probably be very unpopular for calling it as I see it but we have one very lucky manager. Seldom have I been so angry at a game. We completely bossed that game today with Harriott a revelation and Pritchard the best I've seen him despite no end product to match his endeavour. Until we scored!!!! Then the midfield moved 10 yards back and we tried to defend for 40 minutes when we could have pushed on and scored 3 or 4. As for the substitutions, if anyone can tell me what the point of Kerkar is then good luck. And if anyone really thought Obika should have come on rather than Haynes then I simply don't believe you. We came so close to pissing that game up a tree against a woeful leeds side. But the luck is with Chris P and i clearly know nothing about football. Special word for Attwell for one of the worst refereeing displays I have seen in my 40 odd years. I take it he just decided to dispense with the rule that you are not allowed to handle the ball!! It was like a volleyball match out there. Incredulous. Brilliant three points. though and we are now safe. But we won the lottery today.

    What's new?

Not so sure about scoring 3 or 4. That's easier said than done. And it doesn't really matter whether we win by one goal or seven (who was that poster on the old 606 whose main preoccupation was our goal average?). But I agree that to always try and defend in your own half and constantly give the ball back to the opposition so they can have another go is crazy and has cost us a lot of points this season.

Part of the problem may be tiredness. Hughes is old and just returned from 14 months (?) out. Jackson and Fuller are never more than 80% fit. Pritchard has to be incredibly uneconomical with his energy to stay in the game. Wiggins and Kermorgant are not long back from a bad injuries.

Didn't he put in a couple of good crosses, something Harriott and Pritchard are incapable of doing? And he is better at defending than Harriott. I think the latter was CP's reasoning.

But it is really odd how CP keeps resurrecting the dead. At various points since Christmas I really thought we had seen the last of Green, Wagstaff, Hughes, and Kerkar, then they have all resurfaced unexpectedly. Who's next? Hollands? And the one we all expected to see playing a lot, Gower, has hardly got a run.

Haynes wasn't on the bench so I assume unfit again.

Ah! Foot in mouth time. I therefore retract the Haynes/Obika point, but still fuming about the sitting back on a one goal lead and Kerkar. And what's happened to Waggy and Green? Not wanting to rehash old arguments about their respective merits but either or both should surely be in for Wilson who has lost the plot or Kerkar who never found it in the first place.

For the record, better a lucky manager than the alternative! Long may he continue to be lucky.

Happy happy happy. I've read a couple of reports and the consensus generally seems to be that we could'nt have had too many complaints at 1-1, but we scored the all important second goal, and consequently took three points.Lets try and keep the wagon rolling now.

As Modesty Blaise said "It's better to be lucky than good".
Although I've been banging on about Harriott for ages I think he came off at the right time yesterday. He's still getting used to facing Championship defenders, and is finding 90 minutes harder at this level. I admit I groaned when Kerkar came on, but he did OK, even won a header, and put one perfect cross on Kermit's head which he fluffed. And you have to give a manager credit when a substitution wins a game, as Kenny Jackett did against us. At least The Doctor didn't have time to get Taylor on after the goal, but the period when we dropped back was awful, why on earth we try to see out a game when we have a one-goal lead I don't know.

It's alright, you called it wrong. Powell got it right. I did the same. That's why Powell is manager. Both his subs were involved in the winning goal, and Kerkar did fairly well when he had a chance.

I thought the referee was OK. Seemed a lot of handballs on both sides, and a few soft divey frees for Leeds in the first half. Thought he was slightly favouring to the away side, but not much more than the ref at Brighton, and the ref at the Bolton match was very much a homer.

Redfearn is criticising the pitch? Say what?

Compared to how it was against Millwall and Bolton, it was a shirtfront on Saturday.

Better to criticise how McCormack was the only player showing any enterprise and Peltier was the only player showing any class. And while he's at it, why in the midst of all this mediocrity, were Varney and The Gob-Meister left on the bench?

This is the most clueless, talentless Leeds side I've ever seen and their magnificent travelling support deserved a better performance than this.

In his post-match interview Redfearn said that Leeds played very well, but the refereeing decisions went against them. They deserved to win but did not have any luck..

ken shabby, we couldn't have had any complaints if it ended 1-1 because we dropped back and let them into the game. But no way did Leeds deserve a point, and I didn't hear any Leeds fan argue that they should've got a thing from the match.
