Sorry OLM but that it is bollocks. They were herded into the pub because they were kicking off in the square, hurling abuse at tourists and shoppers, not a football fan to be found. The Police in their wisdom herded them into the Lendal Cellars which is a downstairs bar. Once everything had calmed down they were marched to the station, no charges were brought mainly because they were a mob and it would have been difficult to presss charges against any individuals. The police just wanted the scum out of York. As you say we've all got them but it's rare innocent bystanders are brought in to it. I don't give a toss if they want to fight with the York City Crew (all 5 of them) just don't involve innocent people.
I'm just going by what I was told by some of the lads that came over on the train with them, though they make a hasty exit when things looked like they were getting a bit messy. It's not true that no charges were brought, at least three of those involved now have three year banning orders.
Okay. At the time there was a lot of fuss that they'd got away with it, but then again The York Press is quite well known for lazy journalism! It's a shame teams have to have these moronic elements. Some more than others.
Give us a source for that. As far as i'm aware (having actually been there) there were no issues with the police. So until you prove it i'm calling bullshit
Strange how you've quoted 9 Leicester fans but that doesn't say anything. From what i've heard we were as good as gold that day.
Big Sam id doing a fine job of assembling relegation fodder for next season - Mills may be flattered by the interest but the football being played by the Hammers at the moment is hardly endearing them to their fans and if you contrast thenm to both Norwich and Swansea from last year you would have to say they are nowhere near as impressive at this stage ... short term gain for him admittedly ..
Agreed - but I think the game has moved on since his Bolton days - to survive in the Prem now, you either have to go the whole hog and keep the pill of the pitch (a la Stoke) or you need to learn to pass it like the Swans and Norwich have done - I know which I prefer to watch ... I really feel for the Hammers, brought up on the beautiful game, albeit with less resources than their London neighbours ...
Matt would certainly fit in with their style of football. Not sure he'd be an automatic pick though and we all know what happens when that isn't the case...
