Saturday's game has become as big a game we've had for some time.. I just that we don't go out and play like absolute toilet like we have far too often since the turn of the year.
MM makes changes and still people moan........too bloody right we do.....they are not the ****ing changes every single right minded person was looking for, you don't leave the top scorer and your most in form player on the bench to be replaced by two lads who have barely played a competitive game between them all season. It's almost as if MM wants us to **** it up cos he really isn't helping at the moment with his team selections.....just play players in their correct position...it's not ****ing rocket science is it you plank!
Every time this season when teams around us have dropped points we haven't been able to capitalise on it. I am a supporter of MM but I am reaching the edge of my patience!
I'm really disappointed with this result. 2015 has been a horrible year for us so far, we're looking inconsistent, stodgy, and completely unable to kill off sides and get points on the board at times. I know our promotion bid was always looking unlikely on paper, but we really needed a result here and I thought the starting formation was completely negative and the wrong way to approach this game. Why start both Luke Varney and Chris Wood up top when neither player can be considered 'match fit'? Sure, Sears and Murphy could do with a rest, considering the small size of our squad, but not both of them at the same time, surely? Having said that, Murphy had a real opportunity to score from the spot and get us the point we need. Murphy's form is really starting to concern me, hasn't looked himself the past few games and needs to get a goal soon, in anything for his confidence. I don't mind too much about the defence. It's preferable to have a settled back four and I think defensively, on the whole, we've been decent this season. Our main issues with this side is in the midfield and the starting midfield today exemplified the worst aspects of Mick's tenure so far with its stuffy pragmatism and unnecessary conservatism. We now have two 'must win' games against Brentford and Middlesbrough if we're to stay in this promotion race. How we're still in with a chance I don't know, and at least it was good to see Norwich slip up, especially after the cockiness of their fans recently. We cannot afford to be complacent because of the inconsistency of teams around us. I know we're lucky to be in with a shout of promotion, but with all these crazy results, this year offers a great opportunity for a top six finish.
Personally i am disgusted by MM's team selection, i have gone from detesting the guy to something on a different level! Mathie hit the nail on the head, we play the ball backwards far too much!! Now going to read comments on twtd!!
Sorry Nuggs but I think we have blown it big time in the great tradition of us fooking things up! Our form is shocking and confidence is shot. We gave it a real go this season but our squad just isn't good enough. Ah well there's always the Rugger and the Cricket... Oh wait!
Blown it? We've got 11 games left of the season to go and we're only one point off the play offs and five points off second! This season is far from over, whether we'd like to think so or not. Yes, today's result was disappointing and, yes, our form of late has been very inconsistent. But thankfully none of our play off rivals can get a decent run of form going. We've been handed a reprieve, but we cannot keep relying on other teams. Now, we've got a home game against Brentford that, make no mistake, we need to win. I'll be supporting the team on Saturday and hoping we can bounce back and put this season back on track.
Nuggs believe me it sounds all very good and optimistic but I have supported Town over 40 years and we are bottlers! This team lacks confidence, form and the nous to win games. Sorry mate but I'm being realistic. We've had a good season no relegation battles this year that's the main thing.
I also think we have blown it, MM is far too stubborn, oh wait that is bordering on arrogance to realise that his constant decision to play players out of position is no longer working, fine it worked for half a season but all other sides have evolved changed tactics and moved forward whereas we still have 3-4 players playing out of position each week or not playing a formation that will get the best out of the players we have at our disposal!
We have wasted too many chances to capitalise on other teams slip ups and we have lost every pressure game! Sorry boys but I'm just being realistic tonight is where it ended as far as this season is concerned. I would love to be proven wrong but sadly I don't see it happening.
Not outright optimism as such, Warky, I'm just looking at the table and the fixtures we have got. Yes, there are some tough games, but they offer the chance to inflict some real damage on teams around us and can give us the capability to break back into the top six. We're not out of the race yet and I refuse to go along with the national media and think we've been put 'back in our place', as some newspapers seem to believe. I know results have been bad. Every team has its blips, and this one seems to be going on for some time. What I will not do on Saturday is turn up to Portman Road grumbling and getting on the players back at the first sign of trouble. It is going to be counterproductive and I don't think it's unfair to claim it hasn't helped the team when the crowd hasn't been supporting the lads. If I was in the players' shoes, I'd hate to play in front of some parts of the crowd that so quickly and willingly get onto the their backs. You don't have to believe we'll get promoted, it'll be a heck of a story if we manage it. But we are in the best position we've been for almost a decade now, and I refuse to believe we're going to peter out and miss this opportunity without a fight.
Hardly a blip though is it! Listen I will be there on Saturday willing on the boys and clinging on to every hope but I just can't see us doing it. Too many false dawns and too many missed opportunities down the years!
