Where does the hatred of Man Utd from Leeds fans come from??
I am a life long Leeds hater,so spend a lot of my Not606 time on the Scum forum
tormenting the life out of them.
But where do some of there threads on "Man Utd scum" come from???
I can understand you hating them(who doesnt)but vice versa i have no idea

Any explanations??

Seriously I think it's one of those rivalries that just perpetuates itself for no underlying reason. Leeds have spent most of their recent history without any comparable local rivals so they have probably focused on us as their closest major rivals. Similar to the Utd and Liverpool rivalry becoming so strong as we didn't have any strong local rival in Manchester until three or four years ago so Liverpool became the club we competed with most often up the top end of the league.

Since then it's just perpetuated itself - new Leeds fans get indoctrinated to focus on Utd and hate us, and it's probably gotten much easier for them in recent years as we broke records under SAF whilst they imploded under Risdale and Bates. Easy to hate someone when you look over the fence and see them rolling in silverware whilst you sell yet another good player to pay your debts.

It was a good, nasty, rivalry when they were half decent for a bit but they were irrelevant to us before then and have been irrelevant since. They still hate us though of course.

There might be a bit of Lancashire/Yorkshire to it but for the most part as fans we just don't rub along.

Elland Road was never a nice place to visit, they're just not friendly people at all and use Munich way too often.
 
Can't imagine it helps that a fair few people from leeds support us.

I have a couple of mates born an bred in Leeds and they support us. My one mate used to be a season ticket holder and their are a fair few coach loads leave Leeds for our home games, all of his mates support us too.

Can't imagine this being a main reason by the way but would imagine it pisses the locals off a fair bit.

They seem to live in a twilight universe from the last 40 years,every thread they post is on how good they
used to be.
Still posting threads about THAT disallowed goal in 1973.
What made me bring up this post was the fact they kept calling your team SCUM
I am obviously a Boro fan,and since i was a kid it was Leeds that were globally renowned as SCUM
Just wondering why they associated you with it
Tried to tell them you had been in the top 10 teams in the world for the last 20 years
but obviously fell on deaf ears

They must be really tormented by you.
 
A few years ago when Leeds where decent, we probably had as big a rivalry with them as we do with Liverpool.

However since they have become ****e, and there has been very few games between us, the rivalry isn't as big as it once was:biggrin:

We get called scum by QPR, it's a small club mentality thing I think. Not that Leeds are a small club, they just act like it sometimes.
 
Leeds fans are looked upon in the same way Liverpool and Millwall fans are. Always causing trouble!

I think that is why there is a universal hatred for them :biggrin:
