There is an excellent shoe shop "Reads" opposite Leonard Silvers (also a good menswear shop) ,that i like to go in when i come back to Hull.
I'd say it's an even split between shirters, scarfers, football casuals and everyday attire types at Leeds. As far as I'm concerned, all groups are welcome.
Jack Willis is supposed to be worn tight. I hate spending all that money on Hollister, Jack Willis, A&F, Vans etc (Even though i do have vans) I don't even pay Topman or River Island Prices (I get that bought for me) I just buy from Primark, it's cheap, fashionable, on-trend and looks just as good as the rest of the **** they sell everywhere else for about £20 less, half of its the same stuff actually.
And without your help, thousands of twelve year old's wouldn't be able to work fourteen hours a day for a dollar. You get what you pay for.
Keeping the economy going in so many countries from buying from a single shop, don't know what the government are doing wrong here
Depends what you think is a premium brand, if you're talking Nike/Adidas, then probably so, but there's many brands in the UK that wouldn't entertain employing child labour, or taking advantage of poverty in certain parts of the world, that's why their prices are higher. Fact is, very few people give a ****, as long as it's cheap, they don't give a ****.
Their not premium brands, stuff like Fred Perry/Lyle & Scott/Ralph Lauren are considered premium in fashion terms, one below 'designer' apparently, I'm pretty sure some of those or similar still use cheap labour. Spot on!
You're wrong, at least with regard to Fred Perry and Lyle & Scott, I don't know about Lauren, the yanks seen a little more fluid with their restrictions. The fact is, that if you pay £40 for a shirt, it's likely that the person who made it got a decent days pay for producing it. If you buy a school uniform from Asda/Tesco for £4.50, you can be damn sure that the people who made it got pretty much **** all. But as we both agree, as long as people get it cheap, they really couldn't care less.
I'm one of those who don't really give a ****, if it's cheap for me i'm happy, it's a shame where it comes from but it's just how the world works. Primark itself don't make the clothes, they're bought from different brands such as Cedarwood State, they get it even cheaper by buying Bulk hence why the price is as low as it is although Primarks prices have started going up. The bastards!
But in these uncertain financial times, who can afford to pay £40 for a shirt? In any other business it's just accepted, you get yourself the best deal. If you're filthy rich and have got enough money to spread it around and make the world a better place then great, but hardly anyone is. I don't buy things from Primark, but that's mainly because it all falls apart not because I have impeccable morals, in fact I just avoid buying new clothes altogether if I can
I have personally never had any problems with Primark clothing apart from one pair of jeans which ripped but that could of happened to any pair...i've had some stuff from Primark for about 4 years and it's still fine...the shoes are the worst for breaking but you can't go wrong for £3..they last a couple of months
I bow to your knowledge on certain brands, I was just under the impression some of these big brands would still use cheap labour, especially when the tag often says 'made in Mayalsia' (Fred Perry heritage range excluded obviously!).
There are no brands in Primark, other than the brands they make up to put in their own gear to make daft lads think they're buying branded goods. You can fool some of the people some of time, etc, etc, etc....
I wouldn't say i was buying branded goods from Primark but its a brand in their eyes, a brand to me is Hollister etc I just say it's from Primark. and Annual event? i'm buying new shoes atleast every 3 months but i don't mind when they're £3...anything too expensive i get bought for me because i refuse to waste money on expensive brands just for a logo
Just because something is made in Malaysia, it doesn't mean the people that made it didn't get a decent wage. I'm currently in Hong Kong, I'm buying goods made in China, I could half the price of those goods if I was happy to buy them in Northern China where the employees will work for a bowl of rice, but personally, I prefer to sleep nights. I don't work with anyone who doesn't give their staff a full holiday allowance, with full holiday and sick pay and decent working conditions. I won't even work with a manufacturer that doesn't have a fully air-conditioned factory(it's a bit hot over here). I might be making less money than I could, but at least I can look the factory workers in the eye, if people saw some of the conditions I'd seen, they'd never shop in Primark again.
