Oh I accept that, I thought you meant they were bigger then than we are now. I know we went **** for a while pal, half our ****ing team died.
Comm, Not vague at all, didn't like Revie and his antics, didn't like the fancy numbered tags they used to wear at the top of their socks, didn't like the dirty little sh1ts in Bremner, Collins and Hunter and Revie made a show of himself when he thought he was good enough to manage England. The players made a right twat out of Cloughie when he took over at Elland Road, because he tried to change from Revies ways and like the whole country in 73 they thought that they only had to turn up and win the FA Cup, they showed us no respect. Think that's enough to point out I'm quite glad they are in the position they are now and repeat I hope we don't go the same way cause relegation for us would be a complete disaster.
Under normal footballing standards I would feel for the supporters, but in this case I am happy to feel nothing for the club or them. Big in the 60s and 70s and played some class football whilst kicking lumps out of the opposition.
Leeds. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. If only I still saw that annoying w#nksplat rep from leeds that used to visit me. Nobhead.
My son wants a part time job while he does his school stuff....told him to put in for the Leeds job...I said it would be 12 weeks maximum....
Im only going of what ive read and seen on tv. In73 i was only 4 years old. So i rely on folks on here to educate me on these things. The only thing i know about clough and leeds is from the movie damnwd utd. Good movie.
Leeds got a horrible reputation but it was only partly deserved. Yes they played dirty but they were mostly just doing what everyone else was but better. I miss a bit of the devilry in the game and we'll all be looking for our players to get stuck in at the weekend. My favourite recent memory of Leeds was when they got to the semi-final of the champions league around 2000. Swings and roundabouts.
I do think Leeds are a decent size club, but not as big as their fans think they are. They did enjoy a purple patch in the 70's and then under Wilkinson. But the season or two they had with O'Leary was fabricated by them trying and failing to buy success. The fact they invested money from Champions League revenue they consequently didn't get because they didn't qualify leave very little sympathy from anyone. But somewhere deep in my soul I feel for the genuine fans of Leeds, to see a club go from Champions League semi final to the 3rd tier of English football in such a short time must be gut wrenching. Now they have an owner who changes manager on such a whim....where is this "fit and proper" thing the FA brought in for owners of football clubs...A total joke.
I would say it was fully deserved as they never slow in following through on tackles, falling over at the slightest touch etc, and I would even go so far as to say they were the catalyst for other teams to follow suit and it was to the detriment of English football.
I remember being at Roker Park the day Bobby Kerr had his leg broken in a bad tackle by Norman Hunter. I used to stand in the Fulwell Paddock next to the players tunnel, Kerr was only 17 and just starting his career in the first team, his youthful enthusiasm made him stretch for a ball he had no chance of getting, Hunter saw him coming and left his foot in breaking the lads leg, that was an example of the type of players they had then, although Bobby got the last laugh on 73.
