Same age as me I think (where do I sign!!) I'm an excellent goalscorer 4/5 a game best tackler in the world (Vinney Jones is scared of me) and as for defence, their are spiders in the goal post, nothing get's past us!!. As for mr Hughes to old move on!!

I'm not sure what his wages would come to but if we were looking for a natural finisher, give me Vine any day. At least we'd know that we're paying his wages for appearances; when King had his 'misplaced car' sabbatical from the game it really cost us and I don't want that again.

Are we really in a position to comment when we had Marlon King at the club in the past?

I would rather us sign a prolific scorer from the lower leagues who is younger, can attain the fitness levels required and show a hunger for the game. Having 'done it' at a higher level I believe there will be this 'you should be grateful to me' attitude, whereas I would rather have an honest player who will give that 100% to the club for having been given that chance. Jackson did........ Jarvis did........Cascarino did......McDonald (albeit on loan from a higher standard club) took his chance too

In general what have the old has beens ever done for us? Apart from bleed the accounts?

Re King........he was already on our books when the 'car' incident happened and the club showed great loyalty to him.

There was a Daily Mail article in a Saturday sports section some years ago when he had left the club for 'greater' things AND before he slid back into the mire where he stated that he had nothing but praise for Gillingham when 'we' supported him.

We all know what happened when the money and his ego took over.

We did not take him on as a 'bad egg'....he went bad later.

Hughes is, in my opinion, too old and does not represent all that is good in football. There are plenty of 'Jacksons', 'Morisons', 'McDonalds' out there for us not to be wasting our time in this direction.

looking at the link i think it was more of a we asked the question kinda approach than an offer. lets be honest he played under allen and he knows how good he is and therefore why wouldnt he want to bring him with him. hopefully allen can move on to other less contriversial and dividing players
