Huddersfield fourth position in League One, four points off automatic promotion, Clark also in charge when they had the longest unbeaten run in the club's history, and saw them go 43 regular season matches without defeat (a Football League record) before losing in November.

Lost only 3 league games all season and gets fired!!! What the hell?

Something stinks about this. I suspect someone has been a very naughty boy. Tapped up by Wolves, Leeds or similar? A great pity as he has done a great job at Huddersfield.

Was going to say, I reckon he's been talking to Leeds. Huddersfields statement looks like it has been copy and pasted from Ken Bates statement about Grayson.

The reports say he was fired over the phone in a two minute call from the chairman after the home defeat. No offence, but the clubs above Huddersfield are all bigger in terms of finances so what exactly was the board expecting? Clearly, the most bizarre sacking of the season. Sorry udders, even as a Leeds fan i found this one completely stupid.

Done a canny job as a manager but simply brainless. Remember how stupid he was when Sunderland sacked him.. wearing a T-shirt rubbishing the team he was playing for!!!!! Bright as a spark, that idea was, Lee!!!!

Football has gone mad when managers like Clark and Grayson get the boot.

  13. Over the past two seasons Huddersfield have failed to get promotion, by losing out in play-offs.

This season they are on course to miss out on autos again and there is no guarantee they would win the play-offs. Given the amount that Clark spent investing in the team, not to mention the large wage structure they have, the Chairman obviously did not have confidence in him and decided enough was enough.

I assume his sacking means if Leeds/Wolves etc make a move for him, there's no compensation due to Huddersfield?
None of this makes sense unless, as suggested above, he's been 'naughty', or else they've already tapped up someone to replace him.
He'll find a new role in management well before Roy Keane, though <ok>

Does this mean Norwich can have Jordan Rhodes at the end of the season? Please <ok>

Simon Grayson looks like he's about to take the job.

    Good appointment. <ok>

Have to say that sacking Clark was harsh though.

I think that Dean Hoyle realised that Clark wouldn,t get Town promotion so he took the very brave decision to sack him and appoint a far better manager and to all Town fans has any club gone after Clark I think you have your answer no plan A and no plan at all!
