Weren't we told he was going to be Charlton's Sir Alex ?..... but we already had that in Sir Alan... somebody knew nothing of our history
He liked my coat! Once fans are allowed back in I'm returning to the fold. My twinge in July has told me to enjoy life, you only have one innings.
I'll take the Angeldust's rumour with a pinch of salt for the moment - he's hit some nails on the head, but swung and missed others. But I begin to think Bow maybe on very thin ice. Yesterday was a terrible day, despite picking up a barely deserved point after being out thought for most of the ninety minutes. It's hard to see how to correct us now. Famewo looked rusty, Schwarz remains unknown as we were unable to get him the ball in a way he could use even once. Most of yesterday was just feeble. Technically Bowyer can't make players pass properly - it should be a given. Buy it just went on and on yesterday as we sat there waiting for them to finish us off. Aneke comes back on tuesday, but we are so lacklustre it'll still be an uphill grind. To be honest it feels like the last days of Robbo, and I never thought the magic of Lee Bowyer would sour so quickly. But something seems very wrong right now, and I can't see any sign of improvements now.
It's clear that something is properly wrong. To me, a clash of personalities or policies between Lee Bowyer and Ged Roddy seems an explanation that ticks all the boxes. Bowyer may feel that Roddy is interfering with his job - much as Powell felt that Duchatelet was interfering back in 2014. I sympathise with LB to some extent. It may be that Sandgaard & Roddy do have a well defined 'way' that they want Charlton Athletic to progress, and they expect their 1st team manager (as well as all the other coaching staff) to buy into that way. If Bowyer won't have it and is digging his heels in, there will obviously be friction. Back in 2014 it was Powell's side I was on. This time around (if there is indeed a conflict) I am inclined to back Sandgaard and Roddy. If LB just won't cooperate with a new way of doing things for the betterment of CAFC, then his time is over. Nothing good can come from delaying the break.
Sucking up to the boss I expect. He always was good at that. If he also has a minimum level of competence I guess he isn't a priority for the new administration to deal with.
To be honest if you look at our record from December onwards any Manager would be under pressure. A lot of Managers would have lost their jobs by now. We have a decent squad and we are totally underperforming. If Bowyer had no Charlton connections I think most of us would be screaming for him to be replaced. His record from December. Won four, lost Six, drawn six. That is a terrible record.
