Lee Cattermole is ahead of schedule as he battles back from a double hernia operation, David Moyes has revealed. The Sunderland midfielder was initially ruled out for between four to six weeks after undergoing surgery at the start of the season. Lee has started running again, which is very good, I would say he is ahead of schedule David Moyes Moyes confirmed he is back running but admits he is wary of rushing him back too soon and causing further injury.

I honestly didn't know he had a hernia operation..This went under my radar...I was thinking that he must have had a month on the pissa gain and was just out of condition..

Just one of those players you seem to miss when he's not around.

Will be good to have him back in and around the squad.
 
It'll be good to see him playing with less pressure on him to carry the team, thanks to a solid defence. A lot if not all of his costly mistakes in the past few seasons came from a desperation on his part to protect the back four singlehandedly but he should be alright to play more of a balanced role now.

We know he has the ability to play further forward, he's a bit crap at dribbling but he can't half pick a pass. I don't want him in advanced midfield but I'd like to see what he does with a settled and physical defence behind him and good midfielders around him.

I think we did, second half of last season, he looked a different player, he is also staying out of trouble, which helps. <ok>

Imo, he's a general on the pitch, not always as skilled as those around him, but what he brings to the side is just as important.

Aye not ahead of those three although we only actually have one of them and he's injured. I can't think of many players in the league, if any, who would have more of a positive effect on team morale when brought on as a sub in a tough match than Cattermole. Good old Catts.
