the Secretary of State just has to be satisfied

oh him....yeah righto...does he still remember where Dover is, i think they are still waiting for his increase in border control, to stop those naughty refugees crossing in dinghy's.

Section 40(2) of the British Nationality Act 1981, as amended, says that “the Secretary of State may by order deprive a person of a citizenship status if the Secretary of State is satisfied that deprivation is conducive to the public good”.

Nice one Pete - but what does Section 40(4) state? ... probably have me on ignore so I'll put it up for others ....

(4)The Secretary of State may not make an order under subsection (2) if he is satisfied that the order would make a person stateless.

The ECHR says
ARTICLE 3 Prohibition of expulsion of nationals 1. No one shall be expelled, by means either of an individual or of a collective measure, from the territory of the State of which he is a national. 2. No one shall be deprived of the right to enter the territory of the State of which he is a national.

Not really sure why race has been brought into the equation. This thread is about Shamima Begum, if the thread was about Sally Jones I’m pretty sure every view towards Shamima would be mirrored towards Sally, I know mine would - terrorism isn’t about race or religion for me, it’s about the actions and choices of degenerate scum looking to bring harm on our country and others. Bringing race into it is just going to descend the thread into a stupid slanging match when so far it’s been a pretty good debate.

It’s an interesting topic this if you roll out the logic being used.

So, if you’re one of the many hundreds of thousands of U.K. citizens born here, but with one Irish parent and you are therefore able, should you wish, to apply for an Irish passport, but you haven’t. Does this current policy mean that if you’re convicted of a crime here, and serve time for it, then upon release you can be deported to Ireland? Or does this only apply to brown people <whistle>
You know and i know, this only applies to brown people, and if you are muslim you are pretty much fooked. Pisses me off mate.
Where's the accusations of racism coming from?

As I alluded to before. The killers of James Bulger were about 10 years old and adults were trying to ****ing lynch them. I don't think anybody would bat an eyelid if we could and did deport them two.

Let me pretend for one moment she has dual nationality, as in applied for or holding. Forget the bloodline for now. What gives us the right to dump the girl on Bangladesh. Nowt to do with the retail or financial clout of ours over said country, no sireeee. What if Bangladesh, say fook you we don't want her, who then made her stateless, does it come down to who made claim first <doh>

This is absolute bolloxs.

We don't but money talks mate. Its why we send all our refuse to Asia. There's no right for us to do that but money makes the world go round

I thought you were questioning whether he knew where Dover was

I was, he seems to have forgotten and plays to the media once again as he is doing in this case. It's all well and good having tough words and actions, but will they stand up in court, i don't think so, but that will be dependent how far the parents lawyers are prepared to go with this.

I have no doubt that the government is forcing it's financial arm on Bangladesh here, I can see exactly what they are doing.
