It will be good. There is far too many bad drivers on the roads. You must have people sat beside you where you've thought "have I really got to let this *****l have control of a 2 ton vehicle capable of travelling at over 100mph?"

How the **** do you fail the theory test? It's based on common sense for **** sake.

Well of course women don't do much driving. I would expect that they are either in the kitchen or doing the ironing or busy with a vacuum cleaner:emoticon-0136-giggl

<laugh> i imagine that most insurance companies would disagree with that statistic, but you may be right...

Actually Dan, that hasn't come in yet, and that's not because girls are as bad as boys, it's because Europe decided that insurance companies were being discriminatory and rather than lower the boys payments, they're upping the girls..bastards!

Yep, sometimes i can tell which ones will be the idiots on the road, but they put on a good show on their test, it's very frustrating, and does make me worry that someone i put on the road might be a killer.

My driving instructor was a fanny. He kept on telling me about problems he was having with his extension and it had put him 40k in debt. Suddenly instead of 5 more lessons to my test, he wanted me to do 4 times that <doh> Nothing to do with him being in debt of course. Told him no chance.

After I passed my test he said he thought I might have got lucky because more lessons would have prepared me better <doh> 4 minors and he thought I should have done more lessons.

I couldn't believe they only make you do 1 manouevre now instead of 2. I got the reverse parking into a bay. They replaced the 2nd one with a period of independant driving. Basically he pulled me over, showed me a diagram with 3 right turns and told me to follow it. Much easier than reversing round a corner.

i totally agree, when they took out a manoeuvre and stuck in the independent driving, they made the test easier...

I think the people that worry about their test are the ones that are much more likely to fail it. I went into mine confident of passing, and I did quite comfortably. One of my mates (who is now a doctor <yikes> ) failed his practical a good few times. One of them he went through 2 red lights in a row, panicked and went the wrong way round a roundabout <laugh>

Agree completely about the test being easier now the 2nd manoeuvre is out. I think they should actually test people on all 4 that you are taught. All are essential when you are out driving. There would still be plenty of time to test the actual driving skills for control, correct gear, checking mirrors etc

A mate of mine failed 6 times and got piddly on his 7th and passed. A couple of vodkas calmed his nerves and he didn't make any mistakes. Drink driving on your test isn't to be condoned though <health&safetysmiley>

Actually, quite often it's academics that really struggle with driving...they can pass the theory on the questions but fail hazard perception, and when it comes to the practical they're a bit crap. Never was a problem for me lol.

And...on your second point, they were considering, before the last change, a separate test for driving and manoeuvres, but they dropped the manoeuvre instead. mistake, imho.
