Back in May 1984 I (bit by bit) knocked down an old bungalow (that we were living in) ready to replace it with a new house. When there was just the bathroom left we bought a caravan and lived in that (in the garden) for a year until the house was ready. During that winter it got to -15. I remember vividly, every bloody morning I had to boil up what water we had left and then I was out (in dressing gown and wellies) thawing the stand pipe to get some water, then taking the sled hammer down to the paddock to smash the ice in the ponies' tub. When the top floor of the house was finished we moved in but until then we were still using the old bathroom. How about that, a caravan with an outside toilet and bathroom (in the middle of a garden).
