Afternoon bears, there's not much said on here regarding it so I thought we could maybe clear some things up about get some views on it.

What is the benefits of the 12-12-18 setup? I can't see how it benefits the top league?

same number of teams
split still exists
split is more complicated
can't see it generating more tv money
teams that don't finish in the top 8 miss 2 fixtures against Celtic (and another 2 against rangers when they return)

BUT I do see it benefiting rangers despite what is said in the media.

Anything I've missed/got wrong?

I think it is meant to benefit teams the top league by way of more money being given to teams for their finishing position. I might be wrong, but did they not say the financial rewards would be less for the winners than it is at present. I would agree with your other points.

It will have benefits to Rangers in some ways. I'm sure I have said this before, but it would mean that we will come up against some of the SPL teams a season earlier via the play off thing that has been mooted.

Regardless of our position and what happens to us because of restructuring I really would have liked a bigger sized top division.

This went well

Come on get PM'ing each other and kick this thread off <laugh>

For some reason on here people seem less likely to respond to sensible threads Mindy. I would cite your recent 14 odd page freakshow thread as validation of this. I would far rather post on a thread that actually asks questions of a footballing nature even if there are fewer responses. Why not reply to Chapper's thread in terms of football rather than merely taunting. Are you happy with league reconstruction?

I think a bigger top division would be better too.

I'm sure he will thank me for getting his conversation started

20-22 is a good enough set up for me...or 20-21 if Green is unhappy

Ian not sure the League Restructuring should be mentioned on this thread. It is
obvious when the restructuring talks were taking place all the fully registered clubs
were present. There is probably no reason for your lot to worry about the reconstruction
as, next years positions are fairly clear and their is no need in the wide world while
Your lot should worry about the following year. Trust me it won't be an issue.

Totally agree with this. I would have preferred a top league of 16 and play each other twice. No split as it is just bloody ridiculous.

30 games could have an effect on the coefficient

Says on the BBC gossip column that the SFL teams are gonna vote against the restructuring and opt for 12-12-10-10.

I can't see why any of the bottom teams would voye for an 18 team league. Surely it would be way too difficult to move out of.

As for the SPL, I think most fans want more teams up there and not having to play the same team 4 times a season, but then the chairmen would see that as missing out on a few extra money making games.

The way to counter that would be to re-jig the league cup. It's pish in both England and Scotland, why not merge them together and change it up a little.

More of an effect than the likes of Motherwell gaining a massive 0 points this year? I think Dundee Utd got a mind blowingly large 0.5 coefficient points.

Aye......cos we aren't doing the damage already <doh>

Mindy fail

Yeah playing and losing in Europe is worse than turning your league into a pub league

Back off to the job centre for you Callum
