Bob, we are on 9th on 29 points. Everton are playing the Swansea way and are on 12th on 21 points. You'd have to admit, at present, Monks way is more effective than Martinez (Swansea) way.
Monk does not have to compete in the Europa league. Martinez does. This was a factor for us last season.
We need both! Monk needs to keep the ugly game for the likes of West Ham etc, but we cannot lose our slick passing and possession game, it's what has got us here, and we need to always have that ability protected if we are too stay here. So I guess what I'm saying here is we need both, and the balance has to be struck by Monk....................
Agreed, but we do seem to be forgetting how to produce slick passing and possession when it is needed. Our passing complete, possession and discipline stats are all going the wrong way for me.
I know and it is a tad concerning, I've put it down to so many changes in players since Laudrup came and went, Spanish exodus and Monk replacements etc, but Monk has got to get our possession game back up to scratch...............

It's too early to drink, so WTF are you smoking. RTFP. Everton are suffering the same performance and point decline that we did during our Europa cup exploits. Monk only has to focus on one league for regular games and no Thurs / Sunday doubles, which makes the Europa league a handicap. Monk is having his struggles with performance and we only have one competition to deal within.
