Funny most football supporters say they can't watch the first 100 minutes when Wycombe play.......................the last 5 minutes are a relief. Anyway how can you still type straight?
When it got nearer to the 90 minutes mark I was thinking here we go 12 minutes of injury time to endure and we will be sucker punched and lose on penalties, should have had more faith you said we would win greeny
I thought I must have dreamt it till I saw my phone this morning. What a performance from everyone but special mention to Stewart and Grimmer, outstanding.
For some reason, I'm feeling a bit depressed. After the initial elation it came home really hard that they didn't have their fans there to celebrate their historic victory. It is a massive shame that the fans (including us) couldn't be there. The last time I went to Wembley for the play-off final, Southend scored with the last kick of extra time and we lost on penalties. Then, when they have the most important win in the club's history, it had to be in an empty stadium Absolutely gutted for the team and the fans. It just feels so empty. There would have been at least 40,000 fans there last night I've been outside working to try to snap out of it and pulled a bloody hamstring
tis all ifs and buts Ron. IF the season hadn't been cut short and the supporters prevented from attending matches then the question would arise would you have been in the play offs. You may well have been anyway but perhaps not in third place. If you had got into the play offs which team would you have played in the first round. Would the scores have been the same. BUT the alternative to that scenario is you would have missed out on the play offs altogether. Ergo the fans would not have had a Wembley to go to. All you can do is accept what is for what it is and go with the flow. How it happened or who missed out on what is somewhat irrelevant. Rejoice in the thought that you are at your highest place and leave it at that. Have another glass and feck the rest. There is another way to look at it. Just think how many other supporters Wycombe have pissed off this season. That's the sort of thing that would give me most pleasure. However, every one of them would take what you got this season given the chance and wouldn't think twice about it either. It's only ever wrong if somebody else does it.
Clearly wycombe fans have been enjoying themselves round my way sleepy little stokenchurch came to life straight after the game fans singing in the streets car horns blasting out .yesterday morning I took the dogs out for a walk wycombe flags adorning front gardens and loads of people wearing wycombe shirts walking about. My daughter said it was the same in piddington so I think the fans are still celebrating even though they couldn't be at Wembley, whatever way you look at it its definitely erased the memories of the southend play off defeat.
I hope Greeny that your lot piss a few more off next season, the Championship is a hell of league to be in, looking at League 1 it's catching up fast.
I see Akinfenwa has been invited by Klopp to the Liverpool parade when it happens, wathched that Chairboys live yesterday afternoon well worth watching it starts about 6mins in
