Agreed Donga - I don't think Mario is as bad as everyone says but he will always be scrutinised and it's best to get rid asap to remove the media attention.
If used in the right way, Mario could be half decent. He's never get to chase and harass players but he will hold the ball up, bring others into play and get in the box. Therein lies the problem though, that's not how we play and therefore should never have been signed. Same goes for Lambert. And before people suggest we need a Plan B, it is no use having a big man to aim for if we don't know how to do it.
problem for me is Badon has shown pretty poor technical ability so far with us, and he seems to refuse to be in the box causing problems which was where he was needed badly when he ame on v Chelsea, almost like he was refusing to do it. He showed a glimpse, when he used his strength to muscle between 2 chealsea defenders and get into the box
I think he and Lambo have been told not to hog the box because we employ a fluid flexible attack, if they stay in there then there is less room for players to exploit.
I don't know if anyone has noticed but Balotelli would have scored more goals if he varied his shooting technique. On Tuesday he blazed an effort over the bar. Rather than putting his laces through the shot he chose his favorite inside of the foot shot. He never changes it for whatever reason. The same thing happened vs Hull where rather than poke the ball into an open net, he opened up his body and tried to side foot the finish which of course he missed and that was the game gone. That was the moment I believe he lost his chance to get a good run as it would have been a massive 3 points won at the last kick of the game. His confidence would have rocketed from that point.
He never used to side foot, to me that is a sign that he lacks confidence. A confident striker would lace it, drill it hard and low making sure it hits the target at the very least. Of course, it could also be a lack of due care and attention, this wouldn't be surprising since he's been pushed out into the cold of late.
This is the problem - we're judging him as a striker. He's not an out and out striker. He's a support striker and this is where he has played best throughout his career. I still think he has a place in this squad because he has shown ability to fend off 2-3 players and create space for others. For £16m, it's not earth shattering. All in all, there are bigger issues with our recruitment than focusing on Balotelli. Spending £50m on 3 average Soton players is what cost us this season.
think of it this way... dalglish bought andy carrol injured, for 35mil...roders sold him for a 16mil loss.. he's said carroll would not play much for us ..... then he spend all he got off carroll and more on two muppets in lambert and carroll who are extremely similar!!!! explain that **** to me please.
Does it??? Really.... So lfc takes the Torres money, blow 35 mil of it on Carroll, lose 16 off it right off and now have spent the 19 left of it on two at best championship donkeys All 3 this mythical 35 mil I'm making up in now way suit lfc style and never did and all 3 are fundamentally wrong for rodgers style of play Yeah good deal.... Lfc get 50 mil which other clubs could have built a great side out of then waste utterly And then get 75 mil for suarez and blow that too....
Yes! Selling Carroll to then sign Lambert and re-buy Carroll is pretty good going PS...I agree that Balotelli is the Italian Andy Carroll. In fact, I'd say he's the poor man's version too.
Does he not? Or do you conveniently miss his link up play? And does he not hold off 2-3 defenders only to find no one supporting him? As I've said before - he's been average for us. But the criticism that has come his way is completely unwarranted. And it's come from fans, his own manager, the media. He's been poorly managed by Rodgers - at least his poor performances have come by playing in a position he's not suited to. What excuses have we come up for Lallana, Lambert, Lovren? All (bar Lambert) cost more than Mario and have played in their best positions.
I never said he couldn't do it, he's shown that he can. However, he rarely chooses that option, he prefers to try and beat a player and shot wildly high and wide from 40+ yards! Notice you ignored the "plays for the team" part too Exists for Lovren, Lallana and Lambert...? WTF are you talking about? You're the one making excuses for Mario so shouldn't that question be aimed at yourself? Lovren as been 100% ****. Balotelli the same. Lambert also but least he tries. Lallana's not been poor he was just expensive.
