Exciting game, but have to say we have conceded so many goals: recently: 4, 5 - 2, 5, 0, 1 and 5 ....suspect goalkeeping me thinks!

It's all about nurturing and blending individuals into the next step up for them. Some will be ready and others will take just a little longer. It would be a shame to ruin more potential because of bad timing.
As I mentioned before, Erol will have seen these youngsters at U23/21 level and tonight he saw them against good opposition. He'll now have a better idea how each will cope with a step up.

And yet we're looking to send ***an-Walcott out on loan while paying £1M for a player a year younger (who is injured).

If F-W is a prospect, why sign Fish?
If F-W isn't a prospect, don't send him out on loan, get rid.

The current CB situation does confuse me.

If Fish was fit I suspect Goutas might have left.

Sadly I missed the game but have seen some brief highlights, several cracking goals from both sides.

Whilst Southampton put out a weakened/inexperienced side by their own standards, I suspect there was far more experience there than on our side from looking down the line ups
I'd guesstimate that their side was probably worth at least £40 - £50 million.... Archer alone has just cost £15 mill.

Definitely looks like we did well to fight back and put in a half decent showing by the end.

Sadly the young 'uns will now have to go find loans to continue their development but there certainly appear to be real signs of green shoots coming through the ranks which bodes well for the future if we can continue with a stable platform.

I agree with a few going out on loan, but would like Reindorf to stay. He should be a regular in the match day squad. Every time I see him, I continue to be impressed by him.

There's a few guys there to be hopeful about. Kpakio and Giles being top of the pile. Both maybe a bit young to go out on loan though.

Agree about Reindorf. He’s found his shooting boots with the U23’s and looks an exiting prospect. He would be great from bench when the opposition are tiring.
I thought Conte was impressive last night as well.
However if they have to go out on loan for more experience for a season, so be it. As long as they come back!
