If - and it’s a massive if - we can reel off four more consecutive wins for March, against the teams “easiest on paper”, I’d be a lot more optimistic about automatic promotion. That’d be nine consecutive wins! I remember last season laughing at Spanish when he made a prediction we’d win ten in a row (which I think actually happened or we came very close to doing). Under McKenna, we have a habit of making the extraordinary appear ordinary.

However, as it stands, I can easily see Leicester reversing their recent poor form and Leeds continuing their unbeaten run. They are clubs with Premier League quality and experience in their ranks. For me, we’re still the underdogs and that April set of fixtures fills me with a bit of dread!

Whether we finish top of the table or fourth in the table - it’s still a successful return to the Championship and a significant achievement, considering our recent history. Regardless what happens over the stretch, we know that this club won’t go down without a fight. 35 games in and we’ve only lost four times! I just hope everyone associated with the club can get this over the line - they deserve it!

I am sure it will give us all huge pleasure if we stayed above Leeds. Maybe Spanish wont need to be a pirate on their forum!
