I think the attendance was 39,000 and a mid week match, it remained the highest gate for the third division until a sheffield derby some years later, can remember the match well, Livermore scored the second goal to seal the deal.

PGF a WUM - perhaps no.

A pedantic WUM - definitely yes.

Sorry to take Hilt's thread off topic, but it's already been pushed that way by the jack with a chip.

Anyone looked in on the incest board yet to get an insight into him and his other gobshite mates? What the hell the likes of Chico and a couple of others are doing over there I don't know, but the rest of them are having a whale of time tossing each other off.

Have a look at this after our Man U game and see how it develops - true colours or what.....<laugh><laugh><laugh>.

Loved the friendly greeting for the Swans team.

They have such short memories in Swansea. Remember the films of their tramp fans trying to ambush Cardiff supporters' buses leaving the Library? What are the cheap insults shouted at their team compared to the bricks, bottles and everything else hurled at our fans as they left their stadium?

Mabs showing his true colours again. I wonder if it was his nephew who high jacked his pc after all? Unless he is doing it again. Fair play to Dai though. <ok>

    Beat me to it Steve!!!

Why are they talking about us in their jack army forum, I thought the main reason they left was to talk about all things Swansea! Maybe they miss us, bless their little cotton socks.

What a waste of time setting up that forum. There's more activity on the jax 606 site. Wonder what the groovy's think of speculation about spurs eyeing their manager?

Oh no they like talking about you, they just felt you had no right to respond though, they treated the swans forum as their home. Same is the case for some on here, but we certainly had more.

They left cos some of us had a titful of how they spoke to visiting fans. And they didn't like it when they were getting bans.

But as for attendances, don't worry too much about that, it doesn't mean a great deal, as has been shown the last 2 seasons, we have had one of the lowest and still finished in 11th and then 9th place, and we are currently sitting in 10th.

As a club who don't overpay on wages, what we don't earn on ticket sales, we save on the wage bill. Be interesting to see a chart regarding wages.

As to think, a home game for say Stoke vs us has an average difference of 5,389

Now say all those 5,389 were genuine ticket sales and not season ticket holders (cheaper value per ticket)

Now say each ticket was valued at £35 (so pretending no children either) then your average ticket sale advantage is £188,615 per home league game.

So then we work out what that is over a 19 home game season, which is £3,583,685

Now based on the 2011/12 season (sorry all i could find at a quick search) our wage bill was £35m (which of course is less than it is now), but anyhow, Stoke's wage bill at the same period was £53m

So is extra ticket revenue helping stoke? Or is us having a wage bill that is £18m cheaper a better value for money?

And we finished above Stoke that season too ;)

Ok, to make it a fairer comparison, how about using Norwich, who came up at the same time as us.

But to make a note, in the 2011/12 season we had the lowest wage bill, we still finished 11th ;)

    Extra ticket sales = 6,471
Rough estimate of income = 226,485
    From the season = 4,303,215

    Their wage bill = £37m
    Our Wage bill = £35m

So they made a whole £2m more than us by having sold an extra 6k tickets per home game. A total of 122,949 tickets throughout the season.

    NORWICH:
    Wage bill: 19th, £37m
    Interest payable: £2m

    SWANSEA:
    Wage bill: 20th, £35m
    Interest payable: £0.3m

So as a club that is also run well, we saved £1.7m over Norwich in interest charges that season. So these ticket sales are not adding up to much any more :) So based on those 2 factors alone, even if selling all 6k tickets at £35 (unlikely) they would have made £600k more than us :)

So let's all pay our footballers £400 a week and play in empty stadia ?

    Edit

Or you can compare Swans with Manure

And have 3 seasons in the Premier League whilst also playing in Europe, now don't be so silly Dai. Lets see how you are fairing in 3 years time, and us for that matter.

Also be interesting to see what your wage bill is like compared to ours, and see how much higher up the league you will finish based on your attendances.

Having a bigger wage bill and higher attendances didn't get you to the Premier League as quick as we did with lower attendances and lower wage bill ;)

I think I'd rather see Cardiff go the Manure way.

I think I would rather stick to being realistic myself. Maybe in a decade or so you will get there, but blind ambition is no good for anybody.

A much higher chance of going bankrupt that way. However, Swansea are in the minority of clubs going their way currently. I believe the Utd way will be dead soon. My current local club (Exeter City) have just celebrated 10 years of being owned 100% by the fans and have enjoyed their most successful period ever. It won't be long before most clubs begin to go this way.

Being that Swansea have to give tickets away for the Europa league game against the "mighty" Valencia it makes sense to stick with the size of their ground.
