I wouldn't be happy with that outcome no, but that's slightly more specific than what you asked before. As I said before though, that outcome never has to happen and you can't go through life avoiding such ridiculously unlikely risks, so I don't think it's a relevant question.
Like the generations before us, we signed up to Hull City AFC. We want the best and we want to be Premier League - but at what cost? If proper consultation revealed the majority wanted this; or if deals were lined up to pump millions in; or if sound academic evidence determined this would provide long term self sufficiency and security - then at least I could accept it even if I didn't support it. But this appears to be at the whim of a man who has none of the above and who is potrayed even by those supporting him (in this matter) as impulsive, unstable and stubborn.
I'm afraid your last sentence is bollocks. As far as "give in to him or give up" is concerned you need to re-read what I've said. You don't negotiate with a hot-head by using confrontational tactics.
Why is it bollocks? How is asking for a consultation confrontational? Hardly direct action. You seem to have a low opinion of AA.
Scuffling with stewards and walking backwards and forwards with a banner in order to embarrass him on TV is very confrontational.
It’s hard to reliably measure confrontation, but by most people’s standards, it’s pretty low on the scale. Although, I do believe that confrontation, in measure, is personal, and as even you paint AA as some kind of truculent and unstable freak, then perhaps for him it was defence condition 1 style provocation.
You call that questioning???? stop being delusional please. The questions have been ****ing raised a ton now. It's not about that anymore. You know his stance and you choose to carry on shoving it in his face. Don't be surprised if he wants to retaliate.
This is ridiculous. We can enjoy our own private debates on here about our own personal opinions - but it is an irrelevance. There is a pack mentality here - one which exists everywhere. I cannot think of a single football club that would just sit back and take a name change like this. Every club from Man Utd to Scunny would have the same reaction - both for and against. This sport, whether you are one or not, is full of traditionalists. If someone tried to change the name of North Ferriby - I dare say there'd be a few villagers shouting about it. Some fans being anti-name change was inevitable. My personal belief is that a majority would be against a name change anywhere, where the chairman doesn't take the time to explain why it's necessary. This isn't some uniquely Hull City thing- it's the traditionalism in English football. In which case - if you're right that Allam is prepared to walk, then it was inevitable from the moment he came up with this idea. Someone should be advising him and preparing him for what to expect. Running a football club is not for the thin skinned. Being a chairman is no different to being a manager. You'll be a hero while things are going right, and a villain while things aren't. If Allam is prepared to walk over this - then he would have walked over something else before long. You can't have a fan base the size of ours walking on eggshells for fear of upsetting the chairman - it could never work. Chairmen keep the fans sweet - that's how the politics works. Even if he had cast iron evidence of a positive outcome of this name change - some fans would be vocally against. In this case he doesn't have that. He has people who oppose his plans, and people who will give him the benefit of the doubt. I've heard no one say - that's a brilliant idea. I think a banner and a few difficult questions should have been the least he expected.
Good post. I just don't see the point in the banner. The guy isn't going to back down ... we all know that! So you can either carry on and create a negative atmosphere that could easily make some players leave or even SB and interfere with our season. Or you can do something that actually may have an impact on AA. and not go to games/ not spend any money on the club, ask for a season pass refund. Right now CTWD want the cake and eat it. Not sure what positive impact there can possibly be out of the campaign with someone as stubborn as AA. No matter what happens like you said, everything will change from this day forward and whether the name change goes through or gets cancelled there will be negative consequences. And as far as Mr Allam not giving his proof to his reasoning about creating more funds through the name-change. that is irrelevant and hypocritical to be using that against him as I suspect that there's nothing he can possibly say that convert the anti-name brigade. Even if he had a crystal ball to prove we'd be in europe in 3 years time. You can't use that argument against him and the argument of keeping the name for tradition and heritage's sake.
I support Liverpool and I don't see you as that at all. Even if the name changes forever the world knows it wasn't what the fans wanted. The change of name to most is pretty insignificant (I know its not to you lot, and it would be major to me). You're not Cardiff who are really and truly laughingstocks - their true supporter protests died and were replaced by thousands of supporters wearing red anyway. Its them I feel bad for, not you. I want you to keep your name out of tradition and supporter opinion, but to be honest the rest of the Prem won't think much less of Hull Tigers. Though that does sound too American.
It's like saying that if your wife insisted on a divorce she could financially ruin both of you so you have to do everything she says however ridiculous.
So, shall we change your name to Everpool, it doesn't matter, right? Everyone knows you as Liverpool.
lol ok easier than I thought it would be Chazz, I'll give you that fiver next weekend. Like flies to ****.
I do hope people realise the banner going round was nothing to do with CTWD. Check CI it was a very desperate prick with a magazine to promote. He is ok with the name being hull city tigers. He's also a liar. Ten years he played for nth ferriby!! Gtf pity noonne on CI had the confidence to challenge that.
Yes we know his stance and we're questioning it because it's ridiculous. Do you, like Craig, also think we shouldn't question things no matter how stupid they are? Like I said to Craig. Remember which side started this crap and which side is standing their ground. None of this makes any sense. You've just made a load of assertions with no explanation, evidence or reasoning whatsoever. I'd go through them individually but there's so many in there it'd take ages. There were two banners. The CTWD flag and that 'We are Hull City' one. Both had the same effect and were welcomed by the crowd.
I think some see us as the tiger onesie-wearing, happy-clapping, urban bumpkins who are just so thrilled to be in the top division and seeing all the STARS like Stevie G and Rooney, and who haven't been HCFC supporters for any length of time. Here is my grisly prediction for a week today: the club will be deeply embarrassed by turds next week who flock down to the front of the East Stand with their camera phones to get close up shots of the Anfield STARS as they do their pre match warm ups. The ones doing this are closet LFC fans or they come from a family where the dominant perverted male is an armchair LFC ****. You read it here first .
