We will mate. Our support is unconditional. But, it doesnât have to be Hull Tigers or Division 3. Thatâs not and cannot possibly be the equation.
No I don't think Allam is being reasonable and I also think he will walk if pushed too far. Should we sit back and take it? Yes because it means we have a better chance of being a top tier club than we have ever had. Should we force him out on a matter of principle? No because then we will be well and truly ****ed. Should we allow him a bit of slack until the heat goes out of the issue and everyone calms down? Yes because that will be the best time to have a proper reasonable debate with him. Should we put the club's future before a temporary name change? Of course we ****ing should.
If our club is infamous for many different reasons I can live with a siege mentality. If itâs infamous for some tacky and needless name change that spits on our history and our fans for no proven benefitâ then yes, I do mind how we are perceived.
It will be if you all push this bloke too far and you need to get your head around that before it's too late.
Thanks for a straight answer. I disagree on this point of course. I think that it's an appalling situation to have where some fans are scared of the owner to the point that they think protesting peacefully would harm the club through the potential reaction of the owner. That situation makes me more anti-Allam to be honest. Football is all about supporters and if we are forced to just suck it up on something as important as this just because the owner can't have a debate about it, you have to wonder if the owner is fit and proper to be in charge of a football club. I think far more likely than any songs bringing the team down is the possibility that Allam will at some point sack SB. Yeah he seems to like him for now but he doesn't understand football and the idea of not getting his own way. If we're in the relegation zone later in the season he'll see it as a scandal and think we have a right to be higher because he's the owner. He'll think someone must be to blame for such a failure and that would be SB. Losing the manager would be far more harmful to the club. This is another reason I personally don't like Allam being the owner any more. Like you I constantly fear what he's going to do next.
I'm a traditionalist. His motives for wanting to change the name are utter bullshit. Hull Tigers will not generate us any additional revenue at all, other than make us look a laughing stock. Football clubs are successful in global markets because they are successful in domestic and European markets. This makes selling the club much easier to our easily led foreign PL supporter. Can you see hordes of fans in Asia suddenly relinquishing their love for Man Utd because our name has changed from Hull City AFC to Hull Tigers? No, I can't either. The more I hear him being disrespectful to our fans, the more I want him away from our club. The majority of my Hull City supporting life has been in and around the lower leagues. Is the Premier League experience the pinnacle? No, not for me.
The last paragraph is way off topic. The issue is whether the current actions being taken by CTWD will force Allam out and whether that is in the best interests of our club's future. I've answered your questions so you answer mine. Will you be happy if tomorrow's headline is "Allam announces he intends to leave Hull City and seek a full return of his investment." Will you feel good because it means we have managed to keep our name intact?
There’s no proof of that. You portray AA as being pretty unstable yet you want his power to be absolute and unchecked. Rational?
This isn't a matter of respect and disrespect, it's a matter of success or oblivion. The supporters could maintain their dignity by sending an official letter to the club stating they disagree with Allam's actions and any name change will be reversed at the earliest opportunity. This all becomes arbitrary though if there is no club.
You're right it is off topic, but I used it as a comparison with your suggestion that CTWD will harm the team. I think Allam can harm the team more and wouldn't be surprised if he does. Honestly, I'd be happy if he left yes but it's hard to answer your question in full because it would raise a lot of questions. Is the new owner any better? Is there even a new owner? How is this process of him seeking a full return on his investment going to work since we have nothing to give him? Is he going to issue a winding up order? Is that possible in fact? I would be happy to keep our name intact, but of course if the club was no more it would become instantly pointless. I don't think, however, that him attempting to wind the club up (if it is possible) would be reasonable on his part at all seeing as though he was the owner who accrued the current debts owed to himself and designed the interest and payment schedules, whatever they are. I don't think we can go through life in fear of such dramatic and unreasonable action being taken. It's like saying you should never cross a road however careful you are just in case a driver decides to maliciously and deliberately mow you down.
Regarding this post - I think it's important to remember who is pushing, and who is standing their ground refusing to be pushed.
There's plenty of proof. We all agree he has a history of being irrational and impulsive and he's the last person to swallow his pride. However you seem to want to completely ignore that his money is keeping the club afloat and if he walks we sink. Is that rational?
PLT spit out the dictionary and give a simple answer. Will you be happy if we keep the name Hull City AFC, but Allam leaves and in doing so cripples the club for decades?
You seem constrained by fatalism: give in to him or give up. Our social contract is with Hull City AFC - hence why we're bound.
