It seems to be the right time to return to the Shrews board to seek reflection on your start and where you believe uncle Graham needs to strengthen to aid your journey in League 1.

All I can say is that Notts went through a similar process after winning Div2 2009-2010, they survived but found that many players who had dominated Lg2 were no longer good enough and shipped them out player by player. Worse that that, some of the players brought at the beginning were also struggling. Echoes of the Shrews this year?

I ask that to start - you put aside your perceived financial limitations and list the players you believe are not good enough, in what position.

Once thats done, then its worth having the debate about investment in players, loans and GTs ability to attract players to the club - but first things first!!

Easy to answer.....Wildig, Purdie, Taylor, Hall, Winnall, Grandison, Jones,Hector and Wright, all in my opinion just aren't good enough for the 1st division. no investment meant we got in players that weren't as good as the ones that have left us at the start of the season, the reason why they left?...Wycherley wont stump up the higher wages, and thats why we struggle to bring in any quality, and its another reason why our youth players are poor too, simply no investment.we have a terrific ground, brilliant fans and also in my opinion a maverick manager ...but one tight arse owner!!...i would also like to apologise to all on this board about me banging on about Marvin, without him we simply create absolutely nothing up front, not one decent spell of trying to attack their goal, it was abysmal last night, and to be honest these teams that we are struggling against aren't exactly the big guns in this league either. There is far better players out there in the lower leagues that i have mentioned that will come here for nothing just to have a extra couple of hundred extra quid in their wallet every week...The loan system,there are some good players at bigger clubs that just need a few games under their belts who would love to have the experiance at a club like ours too. and lets start concentrating on the life blood of most teams and get our youngsters coming through, lets invest there!!...This club has now out grown old Wycherley, he now needs to step aside and take retirement, and lets have some younger fresher brighter ideas happening upstairs...

I sympathise with tinned hats but he talks nonsense sometimes.

Hector's certainly good enough when he cuts out the regular mistakes - I think he'll do that and when he does he'll play way above our level so it's plain wrong to say he's not good enough for L1. He can be much better than L1.

I think Wildig can also develop into an excellent midfielder but maybe not with us in our present predicament.

Grandison is certainly good enough for this league. He's having a bad spell at RB, which wasn't his first choice position anyway, and maybe it's time to move him into the middle. But a player with his speed, strength and skill must have a place at this level or higher.

Purdie was brought in as a squad player and he can do that for us for a while. Taylor & Hall I might agree about. Wright has the quality but maybe he's not the player he was. Winnall's probably irrelevant as he's not ours and probably won't be around for long. Jacobson hasn't been good enough this season but has been unlucky with injuries. I'm losing patience with Gornell (highly skilled but seems to lack mental strength) and Bradshaw.

So who's any good? Weale certainly, Jones has done pretty well (you don't need to be Rio Ferdinand at this level) and is quicker than a lot of CBs, Collins looks OK but is on loan, Summerfield and Richards should probably be our middle two but need to make the supporting runs for the strikers more often, Parry has quality but is anonymous far too often and needs to show a lot more. Morgan makes things happen, as he did last season, and makes defenders work, as our other strikers don't. Doble could be good or bad but hasn't been given a chance.

Your criticism of Wycherley is unfair. You just seem to want a lot of spending - you call it "investment" but it's just spending on player's wages or even transfer fees really. I think that would kill us because we couldn't sustain it. We're never going to be a club that can compete financially at higher levels but you want us to pay higher wages than clubs with far greater revenue than us. Madness. Yes we've got a new ground. So what? So have lots of other clubs. Everyone's got good fans but we don't have enough of them to support the level of spending you want. It may be boring for you and it may mean we struggle at times but at least we don't go bust. What a legacy that would be from Wycherley - a huge pile of debt.

It's meaningless to say there are far better players in the lower leagues unless you give us some names and what makes them better than players two or more leagues higher. Why are they where they are if they're that good?

And we have a youth system that's produced good players before and will continue to do so. What are you suggesting there? Overseas scouting networks? Ambition without realism is just daydreaming.

This is a bad time for us but it's October and we've just got into this league. In August, I'd have been happy to finish 20th and thought our squad was good enough to do that, although I always expected there'd be changes along the way. I thought there'd be more bad moments than good ones. I still think the same. Are we panicking? We shouldn't.

Hector may be good at a higher level (and I rate him) where the players alonside him cover his mistakes but at this level we have seen that mistakes are costly (ask Walsall!)

Maybe a young, or older overlooked player, is out there just waiting to be spotted.....let's be optimistic.

Does anyone think SCS or Wroe would be better here now? I don't have answer, or opinion, but wonder if tinned hats is yearning for ols times. I think the mentality at Meadow changed just before Davies left and has carried on that way since.

Loanees can galvanise a team but they rarely stay and are not a long term solution.

yes we are in crisis, and the author of this thread makes several goog points. i think i take issue with tinned hats over his condemnation of roland. i may have been here before but our dougty chairman has a business to run, which is one of the best run business's in the league, not on a par with arsenal though. roland i am sure will make money available in january, but i am beginning to believe both he and graham are skinflints but in towns long term future, november and december will be similar to rhe corkscrew at alton towers. hold on to your hats time, and the clocks go back sunday morning!

reading the chairma's latest statement on b and a it is apparent that gt has the money but is choosing not to spend it. roland says more will be available in january, and hopes the squad may be permanently strengthened then. it is a good report and worth reading.

The Daggers can't have been impressed with him and they are renowned for picking up lower league players.

i note winnall has gone back to wolves and wonder when gt will produce a loan list if any other clubs want those players. gt must now be assessing who he is to loan out and who to move on in january. i suggest there has never been a better time for players to start performing and earning their wages. do hope the spotlight is on full beam tomorrow.

throw money, are you reading anything that i have written or does it just go over your head,the lads just coming into maturity now, this is the time to pick them up before the bigger clubs move in..and what are you on about real world, by reading some of your posts you haven't been in one for quite some time!!...its all very well having stop gap loanees for a month or two but thats just patching over the cracks!! and a very cheap way of going about it too, and if you ever bothered to read my other posts i have suggested five or six players we could get here on short term contracts without breaking the bank of Wycherley...if throwing money away bothers you so much, our 3-1 defeat last week can confirm how good we can be at that....so come on then Mr Shrewd ......exactly football team wise...what have we invested in on our promotion to league one?..and what do you think should be done to solve our crisis?.....you said quote "Your criticism of Wycherley is unfair. But the only players you're suggesting are non-league players. This squad has been assembled primarily from players who stood out in League Two, and we're struggling, yet you want to go a division or two lower?

Lenny, a team isnt just made up of individual performers, last years team worked well as an effective unit playing for each other, take the few players out and put in players that aint as good and don't work well with the rest of the team and that spells...well what we have got now, lets get some in thats hitting the target, and get rid of a few that are just going through the motions, like Dobs and Bradshaw...I mention the lower leagues because the skill gap aint that much difference anymore, and a massive pool of talent that would jump at the chance of going up a couple of divisions without breaking Wycherleys wallet....its just on this board mention about bringing in a player and everybody runs around with their frock over their heads shouting, ,we're going bust,we're going bust.....you can tell by our early results, losing by the odd goal or two that we only need a bit of tweaking, but now things are going drastically down hill fast, and getting players in on monthly loans aint going to keep this ship afloat, but at the moment i will take anything for now!! ...yet old Shrewd will diss me down(thats easy), but offers no suggestions or ideas!.....just hot air

i partially agree with tinned hats there are players in the conference who should be bought for the future. i have in mind a striker at altrincham, damien ---- who seems to score goals for a past time.

where are our youth players, have we any budding strikers coming on? i think a lot of crewe's success is down to their youth policy. if our senior players cannot cut the mustard, bring on some youth.it is not rocket science. time for lift off shrews!

another big strapping 6+ft forward thats pricking a lot of ears up is Dartfords Harry Crawford 20 years old and being paid very little, as i have said before you needn't break the bank to have a good look at these young talented players who would love to play at a higher level, lets be honest who ever you get in cant be as bad as what we got up front at the moment, Shrewd will probably go into Crawfords past history and quote that he never scored many goals for his school team when he was 11 years old..... .....why GT is wasting his time with players like Wright, Wildig, Hall, Dobs and Bradshaw etc is well beyond me.
