You would think we were two weeks into the tour... they said it was the hardest first stage ever... it's brutal... Pogacar and Vindegard up the front...

Simon and Adam Yates trying to hold on i13 second break inside 4km..

Just magnificent.... I cant imagine what their parents are thinking... history right there...

The girl Orla who fronts the after show on Eurosport is excellent. Her knowledge and passion for the sport is way beyond most other shoe horned female presenters...

Brilliant day again today... Tomorrow a sprinters stage... a chance for Cavendish just maybe as his team have nursed him through the first two days.. . It would just be amazing for Cav' to win...

if the trouble in France doesn't die down in the next few days, this could be the shortest Tour De France on record.

It would be great if he can get a win on his last tour to beat Eddie Merckx record.
I’d love to see him beat it anyway, but with the current situation in France I’d love to see him beat it either today or over the next few days before the race potentially gets cancelled halfway through!

I don’t want it to happen, but I can see a certain romantic irony in him getting it today, then the race stopping in a few days time and facing years of the French saying he never beat the record because this year’s was null and void and doesn’t count. Thus perpetuating the French superiority complex (I know Merckx is Belgian) and our national sense of being wronged. And then he goes out as he raced, a controversial hero who we know was the best and, but for some dodgy officiating, would’ve been officially, but isn’t.

The race won't get stopped, plenty of time before they get to Paris and by then the violence will have ended. Attacking the local mayors house was a mistake and has brought ordinary members of the public on the streets to defend people and properties, the death of a young firefighter will also put the brakes on one way or another.

Plus... these riots as usual have taken place at night to protect identities balaclavas etc...

Yes, I hadn’t really seen the news when I posted. Things seem to be quietening down today, which is a relief all round.

What a finish.... Cav' came flying late and finished 5th I think...

8 more sprints.... shows Cav' has one in him...

Considering the finish which wasn't ideal for Cav, being placed where he was must be encouraging. He will have a better chance today, the terrain is more suited to him.

And therein lies the problem From someway out yesterday Astana didnt have the the numbers to pull Cav' up, he was constantly looking for Phillipsen's wheel as Alpecin controlled from some Km out. Maybe they know yesterday wasn't their day and saved the troops for another. crack today.
