Sky Sports have sacked Matt Le Tissier, Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson from the Soccer Saturday show.
Just a snippet nicked from Mail on Line: Le Tissier says he was asked by bosses to wear the Black Lives Matter badge, but stressed he 'could not support' the cause's anti police and capitalist aims. The 51-year-old hit out at the movement's 'far-left ideology' – as black footballer Karl Henry also branded the group 'divisive'. Reads as if he made a stance and was 'let-go'. What does Merson have to do to get the bums-rush? Turn up pissed?
Le Tissier always seemed like the only member of the Sky team who had more than the brains that he was born with, so it doesn't surprise me that he was able to see through the mawkish puff and bluster and recognise the reality of who Black Lives Matter are, what they really wish to achieve as an organisation, who funds them and why. Fair play to him for not kowtowing
We all like to speculate, but they probably got sacked because they're, you know, ****e at their jobs. Has anyone actually watched them?
Pleased to read the other day about professional RU players also making a stand (see what I did there) against 'taking the knee'.
I don't know if it's anything to do with it, but Le Tissier is currently taking a break from social media, having spent months trying to convince everyone that COVID-19 is nothing more than a bad cold and falling out with a great many people.
