<ok> we were all under-expecting after having Naughton at the end of last year, but he has turned out to be just as good.

Nugent and Kasper also should be well in the mix, tireless attacking and goalkeeping.

I dont think we will go far wrong if we learn a lesson from Pelts and sign lower league gems in January instead of big money big names!

I think this is more likely with NP in charge, as Sven didn't get any, Pelts was a Faz buy.

Nigel has often looked at loans from the big clubs. Here he got Jay Spearing, Kerrea Gilbert, Tom Cleverley, Ryan McGivern, Jack Hobbs, David Martin, Astrit Ajdarevic

And at Hull he got quite a few aswell. But there was a few lower league players Michael Morrison, Aman Verma, Dany N'Guessan and Tom Kennedy

I think a big factor in the relative success Nigel has had in his career thus far is his scout Steve Walsh. He has the ability to pick up many a bargain and has a cracking eye for a player. I would say Top's money is in very safe hands with him.

    And to answer the thread;

    1. Schmeichel
    2. Nugent
    3. Peltier

Fully with you on that - and he also seems to be our most potent weapon from set pieces - of the close season signings only peltier and Schmeichel have yet to fully convince - biggest disappointment is Danns - always looked a real threat in games I saw him playing for Palace - was really pleased when I saw we'd captured him - right now I'd put him out on loan to the Rams!

Danns has been crap but in fairness to him he is a centre midfielder and i dont think he has played 1 game in centre mid

I think only Schmeichal, Bamba and Gallagher have been good.

Konchesky has massively improved recently, whilst King has improved a little recently. Peltier has been decent, Nugent has problems staying onside, Beckford lacks a decent control and instinct at the crucial moments, Mills has been decent in CB, but not great, and has already been sent of twice, which cost us dearly in both matches.

There would be so many threads about how crap King is if they were to switch positions. If we sign some wingers, we should have a midfield 2 of Wellens, King or Danns with Abe and Fernandes as backup.

p.s. Konchesky deserves an honerable mention too, didn't have the best of starts, but is looking much fitter and more dangerous going forward now.

King has looked a different player this year - mind you credit where it is due - his defensive midfield work has improved incredibly - as has his work rate. Seen comments saying he goes missing in matches - not noticed that cos he has made some fine defensive tackles around the edge of our own box. What we have seemed to miss though are his runs into space when attacking. Think this may be due to a couple of things :-
    1) Nuge making those same runs
    2) The total confusion of what is expected of them as individuals through Svens reign.

Player of the year so far ? All those mentioned. What sways it for me though is away at Forest, PK doing a cheeky 2-0 with his fingers when we were singing 'Paul Konchesky is a blue - he hates Forest'. Shame the result didnt finish that way
