Who can blame him this time?? The chickens though predict a draw http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2013/may/17/chicks-predict
Join me as I laugh at the BBC trying desperately to big up Lawro and his predictions. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22596125 They compare his record to "bookies" and other fixed methods, but not against any actual people. Being right 52% of the time isn't massively impressive, and predicting Soton to lose 15 games on the trot, Man Utd to be unbeaten, QPR to finish 8th and Swansea to get relegated is laughable.
"If I could successfully predict all the results, do you really think I'd be here? I'd be on a yacht in the Caribbean drinking a gin and tonic" I always knew his love for the game was far deeper than his morose appearances on MOTD suggested.
He honestly predicted we would LOSE every away game this season? Scoring only FOUR goals. Whereas we won FOUR and SCORED 22 goals.
It's not Lawro, but it's one of his mates at the BBC (Chief(!) Football Writer) Phil McNulty. He may as well have not bothered; At least try and sound like you know something about the team you're commenting on!
Same ****, different name. Although to be fair, there aren't many Journalists that give Fulham credit.
It ****s me off so much though! They clearly know nothing about what happens with our team on the pitch, and yet get paid by the general public to blag their way through it!
So I thought it worth showing the rubbish versus, in all its glory (Apologies for the format).... Lawro Pts Real World Pts Manchester Utd 94 Manchester Utd 89 Arsenal 85 Manchester City 78 Manchester City 80 Chelsea 75 Chelsea 76 Arsenal 73 Everton 74 Tottenham 72 Liverpool 67 Everton 63 Tottenham 61 Liverpool 61 QPR 56 West Brom 49 Newcastle Utd 55 Swansea City 46 Stoke City 48 West Ham Utd 46 Sunderland 48 Norwich City 44 West Ham Utd 38 Fulham 43 West Bromwich 38 Stoke City 42 Fulham 35 Southampton 41 Norwich City 33 Aston Villa 41 Southampton 31 Newcastle Utd 41 Wigan Athletic 30 Sunderland 39 Swansea City 30 Wigan Athletic 36 Aston Villa 27 Reading 28 Reading 22 QPR 25
Apart from the big 4, who are almost certainly going to finish in the top 4 with Spurs and Everton in the following two places, it is quite easy to see why he picks the way he does. Sunderland and QPR have (or had) managers he rated so he has them down to win quite regularly (despite all the evidence to the contrary he just ploughs on with these two as clearly each loss is just some temporary aberration). He has history with Newcastle and Liverpool so they always get good win ratio's. This leaves us with 10 clubs. Three are newly promoted but one is West Ham, who the media love for some reason, so they will get a good win average. The other two will get very low win ratio's as they are completely unknown to Lawro coming from some alien league called the Championship, which may as well be played in Timbuktu for all he knows about the teams in it. Of the 7 remaining clubs a couple will almost certainly have new managers - 3 this year - so they will be given a low win ratio as it is a generally accepted Lawro fact that any new manager - unless it is 'Arry or MON - is completely incapable of rousing a team. The remaining four teams will be given just enough wins to keep them up but generally at home as they aren't good enough to win away. Each of these teams will have the three facts Lawro knows about them quoted on a regular basis, ours being that Berbatov plays for us, we are good at home and we are poor away. This is how he works.
Sadly the Mystic Chicks suffered a wretched run of form to end the season (4 correct predictions from the final 17) which mirrored our first team. As a result, Mark Lawrenson managed to beat them out by correctly predicting 18 Fulham results this season. The Mystic Chicks only managed 17 correct results. The breakdown: George Co-Hen: 5 correct predictions from 15 (33.3%) Brede Hen-geland: 1 from 3 (33.3%) Mark Sqwarkzer: 7 from 12 (58.3%) Mladhen Peckric: 2 from 6 (33.3%) Kier-Hen Richardson: 1 from 1 (100%) Hugo Rodal-egg-a: 1 from 1 (100%) Mark Lawrenson: 18 from 38 (47.4%)
Came across this comment from 'The Bollock' - "I was once asked what my specialist subject would be to go on celebrity Mastermind and not being hot on general knowledge, I said the life and times of Mark Hughes. Heâs my idol and thereâs not too much I donât know about him. Knowing him like I do, I believe the time has come for Sparky to return to management." (right click on picture for larger image)
