Lawro: "Fulham are down and buried. Norwich have not been good at home but away are another proposition. Fulham have had 3 managers and fielded 38 players. The win against Villa was a blip. Shows you the trouble they are in. Norwich need to win this as the games following are tough. Prediction 1-2."
How can Lawro make so many predictions without applying simple logic. I enjoyed that, Madness. Here's hoping you nailed it, because I am very worried Lawro will pick a home win.
Glad you also see it that way. Whatever Lawro and Merson predict, the opposite usually unfolds. His justifications are mind-boggling and often make no sense!
Garth Crooks on whether Cardiff can stay up: "No, I think they can get another 5 points, that's 34 and that won't be enough." Asked if Fulham can stay up: "Yes, I think so. They've got 30 points, I think they can get a point at Tottenham and a home win against Palace, that would be enough." Whilst I appreciate the sentiment, maths never was Garth's strong point.
Reflecting back, this shows how right Bidley was in naming this thread. My youngest could write better copy than Lawro!
So, at the end of a Magath/Rodallega diatribe, he predicts a narrow defeat - PHEW! "I was sceptical about the amount of younger players Fulham manager Felix Magath has been using but they have freshened up his side and given them hope - the Cottagers have now won two straight games for only the second time this season. Hugo Rodallega has scored the winner in both of them, and he is another player to be given a chance by Magath - before his appointment in February, Rodallega had only started one league game this season. Rodallega does not always contribute a lot to the team outside the box, or when they do not have the ball, but he can score goals and Magath has obviously weighed that up and gone with him. With four games to go, the Cottagers are still fighting for their lives, while Tottenham are on cruise control. The uncertainty over Tim Sherwood's future as Spurs boss will not help but, at home, I still think they will be too strong for Fulham. That will not be the end of the Cottagers, though. After beating Norwich last week they are only two points behind the Canaries, who have a much tougher run-in. Norwich play Liverpool on Sunday and I think the gap will still be two points at the end of the weekend. Fulham will still have hope of staying up with three games to go. Lawro's prediction: 2-1 Doherty's prediction: 1-1" COYW
It will be interesting to see which Fulham will show up on Saturday, the confident Fulham we saw against 'Villa or the nervous and erratic Fulham we saw against Norwich. It'd be nice to take something away from this game, but I'm more interested in seeing a solid, confident, hard-working performance that shows the team is improving.
Another sell out - apparently we took two tiers rather than the usual bit in the bottom corner. No question then that the team will get spurred on (was that a pun?) and as DR says it's up to them to respond.
Apparently Fulham's traveling support has been fabulous this year. We used to get mocked for being allotted a tiny section, and we couldn't even fill that up. But the TV presenters have mentioned several times this year the quality and spirit of our away support, so hats off to you die-hard fans for holding up our end for those of us who can't be there.
