It does not make things easier when we are still in all 3 competitions, playing loads more games than those teams above us, balancing team selections with one eye on the next game.
Still, it can only be to our credit they we have done our best in all 3 and not put in weakened teams, as I'm sure others have done ( not necessarily those above us )

Tough game for sure, but sure we will give it all we,ve got. Good luck to all those selected ( even Ashley Cole )

I'm sorry CP, finishing 3rd or 4th does not constitute being in a competition. In my opinion, it's ridiculous to feel any measure of success by finishing as losers. Let the LESSER clubs have their moment in the sun then come back next season with new signings and the dross on their second rate bikes!
PS. Doesn't really bode well though - Hilarious has just signed a new contract!

No joke he literally hasn't predicted a single game correct all season. **** that twat. I always enjoy the smugness when he gets it wrong so actually that's good.

CP--Thats been a quandary we've had to square up to every year since 2004! Nice problem to have! If you were Robbie would you pick the kids for the FA Cup and CL and keep the top squad primed for the PL? How should we prioritise?
If I was Robbie (and I think this is how he thinks too) I'd take each game as it comes with the most suitable players selected for each game, irrespective of the games ahead! They are youngsters, in my opinion, and shouln't have to break a sweat to complete a maximum of 14 games in the next 7 weeks!

In a normal year , when we are comfortably in the top 4, go for everything.
When things are dodgy, play the kids in
1. Carling Cup
2. FA Cup

Top 4 in PL and good run in CL should be top of the pops. Bugger the Carling Cup, and this year, the FA as well.
Would anyone rather we won the Fa Cup and finish 5th ?????????
As you rightly say, we are usually in everything , which at the vinegar strokes, makes it bloody hard work.
This year I fear it's beyond us, and I for one would put everything into finishing top 4 in PL. I don't think we can win CL, I don't care who wins FA, but I shudder to think of the problems we will have attracting who we need without CL next year.
Not very politically correct, but factual.

I would. We have absolutely no chance of finishing 4th and today showed just how far we've fallen. I know it's easy now but I blame AVB for alienating the older players while not strengthening the squad sufficiently and not shifting the players who aren't good enough. In fact, by buying Meireles, the squad has actually been weakened.
