Arsenal win..losers. Spurs lose...winners. You couldn't make it up,could you? I love it when a plan comes together. You see,you didn't know the Pope was a Spurs fan did you?
I've always said the away goal is the most ridiculous thing in football, used to be the Golden Goal but they gpsaw sense and for rid of it. That said, Barca would be unbeatable if the away goal rule didn't exist.
I think they should scrap the away goal rule, and not just because of this weeks results. Both teams play home and away, so it's fair. If the scores are the same at the end of both games, then it should be settled with extra time and penalties. It's fairer and more entertaining.
If not decided in extra time, it should be whichever team has the tallest CB or which team's name comes first in the alphabet?
The away goal is absurd and has no logic. If away goals are worth more because it's harder to score away, conversely that must mean you failed to score as many goals at home (which should be easier). Thereby making you worse. If you're going to have an away goal rule though, then extending it into extra time has a bit more fairness to it. Yes the away team has 30 minutes longer to score a crucial goal giving them an advantage, but the home team is playing in front of their own fans so also has an advantage of 30 extra minutes of support.
It also makes matches more exciting, without away goals a 0-0 away from home would be a great result but with away goals it leaves the tie more open. The intention is to reward the side which takes more risks and attacks in their away leg, I'm sure had you gone through and we'd gone out on away goals there'd be no criticism for the rule.
Golden Goal is great especially in international tournaments because the turnaround between knockout games is so short. What problem could you possibly have with it? It was only when they started tinkering and brought in the Silver Goal rule it got silly. I've never understood why football fans wouldn't enjoy a "next goal wins" scenario when the scores are tied, after 90 minutes, if the scores are level then you have to reduce the parameters to win the game, first next goal wins and then penalties. Golden Goal avoids the chance of extra time becoming dull and probably best of all reduces the chances of penalties, afterall what's a better measure of a football team, playing 11 against 11 trying to score a crucial goal or each being given 5 opportunities to beat the the keeper one on one from a few yards out?
Ill remember this post the next Spurs take the piss about Liverpool winning the League Cup last season, when we bring up having won something recently, when the usual bullshit of "you ain't won nothing since the 80s" comes out from you little spudlets.
Ay!! Walkers twice the player Glen Johnson is and its an outrage that he isn't ahead of Johnson in the England team. He only gets the nod because Hodgson has some snide love affair with Liverpool and their players so gives them all preference because he once managed them for 6 months was hated by the players and fans alike, and forced out after being beaten by the might Notts County and Blackpool at Anfield and became a laughing stock resorting to blaming the fans for his poor performance. If after that you can't understand that Roy loves Liverpool, where he was humiliated, and their players, who hated him and got him the sack, therefore he shows favouritism to ****ty Glen Johnson, when the magnificent and mercurial Kyle Walker who never ever makes any mistakes, should have his place instead, then you're deluded just like every single Liverpool supporter walking the planet today and that have ever lived..ever. Bastards.
You really should ad a few more posts on this board before coming out with such complete tosh!! To a man, every Spurs fan acknowledges that Walker is a talented young FB, but his performances this year have fallen below the level of last and that he needs a wake-up call and fast. This year he is relying on his speed alone to salvage some frankly appalling decision-making and positional play. He is also a lot less experienced than Johnson and so, I cannot imagine that there would be an outcry on here if your man was preferred. Long term - I happen to think that Walker could still become a top player and if he was to pick up the level from last year then he would quite soon become the better alternative. Clear enough for you?
How do you explain his picking Jordan Henderson then? Walker was better than Johnson last season, but has gone back alarmingly this season. If you look at the England squad thread on the Spurs board the consensus is that we don't think he should be in the squad at all. Still, don't let facts get in the way of your rant. For my money, when fit, Micah Richards is the best English right back.
That's like saying you wouldn't laugh at spurs if they were still in the 5th round of the league cup and we weren't.... No-one takes it seriously. If Arsenal qualify for the Europa cup next season and win it, will it mean much? No, not really. I'd rather not be in it.
No , i wouldnt , why would i ? Why would i laugh at a team for being still in something ? I would laugh if they got knocked out , but if they are still in and we aint ? Explain that one to me , i should still laugh ? some people seem to be more obsessed with what spurs are doing than what we arent doing.
I don't give a monkeys about spurs, they will always be inferior to us. The point was (& it wasn't very clear reading back) is that you were saying that you won't laugh at spurs because they are still in a European competition and we are not? I am saying they might be, but that competition is a competition that Arsenal are too good to be in. If they win it, or progress, it's the equivalent of winning the league cup, or progressing in that. I couldn't give a monkeys if they do well in it, I REALLY don't want The Arsenal to have to be so bad as to even compete in it. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
