It's been 7 years since the Spuds last won a trophy, funny how the media just ignore this simple fact, but never failed to keep bringing up mentions of our trophy drought pre Fa Cup win.
The press mentioning our trophy drought might have been because some Arsenal fans never shut up about it.
Or our fans kept mentioning it because the media would never shut up about it..... The Truth is somewhere in between and I guess the difference is we are expected to win more than Spurs therefore the pressure was on us compared to them.
After that League Cup final, they truly have not been the same. Pochettino has a lot of work to do over the Summer. The body language of the Spurs players at times is poor. The players either can't be bothered because they feel as if they have nothing to play for or they know they're out the door this Summer. Truthfully, I have no clue how Pochettino is going to try and deal with all that bollocks but it's not our problem! Lamela, Soldado and Paulinho really have been massive wastes of money. I still remember when they bought all these players after selling Gareth Bale and the pundits and everyone else thought they would be finishing 3rd comfortably, maybe challenging for the title (Even Merson bought into the hype!) and it ended up to be yet another dismal season for them. They finished with 69 points last season. Even if they win their remaining three games, they will have a lower points tally than last season. Given that they were a shambles last season as well, that really is poor.
You reckon we can draw comparisons between the 2013/14 Spurs side and United this season? I mean I know United are in the top 4 but they've still been utter dross and suffered humiliations after spending vast amounts of dosh. It's quite Spurs-esque.
How much did Utd spend in the summer ? Di Maria was the most expensive premier league player ever and he's been **** along with £350k per week Falcao. Long ball Louis is a dud and RVP is a washed up old has been. To be honest that squad has needed a big overhaul and they spent money on dross. It's the same with Spurs, every year we hear how they are going to overtake us and every year they spend big and underachieve. I said at the beginning of the season that they had spunked the Bale money away and people said it was just anti-Spurs bias. Well, it wasn't, it was just an astute observation. The only player they bought that has looked half decent is Erikson, but even then he's not that special.
You could compare both to yourselves, all the players you have bought in the last couple of years and still no nearer winning the league
Maybe when they get to 10 people will notice, probably not though, they are not a big club like Arsenal.
bite. You have had two consecutive drab seasons. Truthfully I think you will get top 4 but to be honest, that doesn't deviate from the fact that you aren't that good. I don't think Arsenal are particularly amazing, in fact we have a lot of work to do on the squad to become title challengers, but you guys are worse than us and have been rubbish for most of the season which, given the resources at your disposal, is embarrassing. If you were one place lower, you would win the title of being the biggest embarrassment to the Premier League. One could argue you still are deserving of such a title.
More bored than bite but i give you this one I think we both need to improve a lot to be chalenging next season, Chelsea will strengthen again and City will rebuild. Fun times ahead
You didn't bite second time. I guess your target was top 4 and you are currently on course to get that, but it's been achieved in the most draggy (for lack of a better word) circumstances possible. But you're right. Both of us need to improve a lot if we want to compete for top spot over the course of the entire season.
