    Vetch - Laudrup's first season in charge was better than Monk's first full season in charge. Laudrup led us to a 9th place finish and, of course, the League Cup. Monk may get us to 8th, but with no cup.

    So for me, Laudrup's first season was better.

    That said, we have to remember that Monk is a "rookie" - this is his first full season as a Manager anywhere, whereas Laudrup had managed clubs in his native Denmark, Spain and Russia before coming to us. So whilst Monk's first season is not as good as Laudrup's first season, for me he has done a good job - better than expected.

    Finally, he did win the PL Manager of the month award - something that Laudrup did not. <ok>

    It will be interesting to see how next season develops. I hope that Monk is still Manager at the end of season as it will mean we would have had a decent campaign and we will remain in the PL for the first season of the new enhanced TV deal.

    I think we all would agree that there is only one undisputed winner if we compare Monks v Laudrups first season. Actually there's no debate needed as ML wins hands down. It's the second season myself and others have compared etc, and for me, Monks first season is far better than the 2013/14 season.

    Valley - don't disagree. It will be interesting to see how Monk's second season compares with both this season and Laudrup's second season.

    Agree. Hopefully it will be a more attacking minded approach next season with a settled summer to add more quality to the squad.

    Impossible to compare, as Laudrup had Europa League to contend with, which is pretty much like playing in two leagues at once.
    We've seen it take its toll on most teams outside, say..the top four. Newcastle the season before us, and Everton this season.
    I think it's safe to say that Monk will never have to deal with that extra pressure :emoticon-0105-wink:
