Yet Monk could still set a record points tally to which every season will be measured against ;)

If only we can merge ML attacking style with Monks defensive organisation then we'll be a very good side.

Well done to him, and well done that he praised Monk and Swansea for they're performance this season. In spite of the sometimes infantile remarks made on here regarding him he was after all one of the greatest players of all time and though some may find this hard to swallow a more than adequate manager. He was relieved of his duties at Swansea which in hindsight was the correct decision, but I firmly believe he is an honest and upstanding person. Good luck to him for the future, and I'm sure he'll grace us with his presence in the Premiership sometime in the future.

It's a pity some on here aren't as graceful as others ,although I'd love to see their trophy cabinets , full of Div 3 runners up medals in the Sunday Swansea Senior League no doubt , although probably not <laugh>.

Seriously, that comment must a wind up, even you can't really believe what you have written there.

If you do would you say, Brendon won promotion playing Sousa's style? And Sousa almost got to the play offs using Roberto's style?

I know you really want your hero to have won something but can't you simply enjoy the success we've had irrespective of who is in charge? Monk will probably improve our points total for a season & maybe gain higher position - against general expectation and in MY OPINION, playing some of the least inspiring football since the Hamster.

    Sousa - with a budget.

(My reasoning is he sorted out our defence, worked wonders given the forwards we had and, all but Leicester, of his subsequent club have had fantastic goal for stats.)

If it's one thing ML had in abundance, it was style <ok>

The football we played under ML was breathtaking in his first season. Even a donkey can acknowledge that Dai.......?

I don't know Bob. If we are still playing like this next season then fair enough. For now I'm prepared to give Monk the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully we'll return to a more attacking minded side. I just wonder if we had to deviate from that style because, other than Montero, we have no pace in the squad, something that must be addressed in the summer.

    Time will tell.

Lets stick to the facts please, 'part of the first season', as after the Cup performances fell off a cliff, or do you need reminding how many games we lost in the second half of that so fantastic a first season..............<laugh>

Total garbage, try last season when Monk had to save our bacon, from our previously inept manager, then you might just get close to the truth....<ok>

So Dai, if it was Brendan's philosophy, why has he still not won anything and might also be sacked soon? <whistle>

I would agree with most of what you have stated here, and not going to split hairs on where I disagree, though I doubt we will see him grace the Premier league any time soon if ever, he doesn't seem to have the drive or ambition to develop anything long term, and has never stayed at any club to see a project through, he loses interest very quickly. I think he would struggle at any of the Premier League big clubs, and I don't think he would take the gamble, maybe I'm wrong, but for me he's an anomaly, he doesn't want to roll his sleeves up and do the dirty work of managing, just my opinion.

Now watch him take over from Pellegrini!!...................<laugh>

    Good point.
Dyer after the first few games went off the boil for whatever reason, Barrow didn't make the progress expected and Montero has had quite a struggle in adapting (his comments) and with injuries.
Losing Davies has also slowed down our attacks, although Taylor has at last shown some forward quality I still think Ben had the edge in attack, Naughton too is less likely to go forward than Rangel so the passes have to be longer and the pace drops even before the front players are engaged. With only Routledge providing some speed. Routs has had to be all over the field and has had a huge role to play ; he's received some unfair criticism IMO.
In terms of style, I believe we have so few players of quality beyond the main 14/15 that Monk has few options and has found a formation that accommodates his main men.
I'm looking already forward to the summer transfers and new season.
