I've always liked Chico (his matador show at Wembley, his passion and humour). But there have been some negatives (STUPID red cards, really cringeworthy diving, the fur coat, and the George Michael quiff). Now he's decided to terminate his playing career by swanning off to Qatar, it puts his decision making into question. He's 27 and he's decided to sell his soul for money. Silly silly boy. I hope we get this Fernandez guy, it will be an improvement I think/hope. Onwards and upwards.
If he arrives a 25 cap Argentinian international has to be better than an uncapped Spanish player doesn't he?
The reason a lot of people left Planet Swans was that every thread turned into a slanging match,be sure that this site does not go the same way. Chico has definitely gone,Monk said so yesterday,a signing to replace him is imminent.
In SWEP Monk says a centre back signing is a priority in Wales Online they state that Monk is prepared to go against Man U with Ash and Kyle. What if one of them gets injured against Villareal?
Or he could have stayed at Swansea waiting to be sold off along with the other Spaniards and quality players. I don't know but I think he'd just about had enough of the club and what has been written about him. I will defend his record on discipline - one red card against Chelsea was given after John Terry had a word with the ref (payback for Eden Hazard?), one was unbelievable as he made no contact with a player and had every right to go for the ball (high foot) and a third against Palace for a soft foul outside the box with the player going nowhere. Less yellow cards than others. Last season scored more goals than any other back four. Played many games where he was covering for an obviously under performing (injury and recovery) Williams. The suggestion that he was a 'liability' is just stupid, but nothing will change the attitude of fans who want their central defender to be 1960s throw backs. Thank you Chico, and good luck. I would love to see him gain a Spanish call up and it may still happen.
Beat me to it bob, plus the Palace red card was outside the box and Palace was rewarded a penalty. If Chico knew the ref was going to make the wrong call for a penalty , he wouldnt have to bring the player down with 10 minutes to play because of mistakes by his keeper and fellow defender . But go ahead and try to shed Chico in a bad light , after a superb thought process by him on the play .
If monk goes with bartley ash instead of amat ash it's really disrespectful considering amat has never set a foot wrong on the pitch.
Here, here,Bob. Chico gave his all, and he cannot be faulted for that. Pity about the theatrics, though. The sad thing is that the "usual suspects" hereabout will only ever talk in terms of him being a liability. I don't think he was. He was another bargain buy, courtesy of Mr Michael Laudrup, and we will now make a few pounds on his sale.
